Anyone playing in WSOP this year?

I'll be at Potawatomi in Milwaukee this week and playing in a few events at the WSOPC stop... and planning on playing the Millionaire Maker event at WSOP in June.

I played in the Main Event in 2012, and haven't been back to the 'real' WSOP since due to having a few kids. I can finally get some time to play again. I have done a few smaller WSOPC tournaments since, and even cashed in one of the smaller series in Vegas this past summer (little victories).

Pumped for getting back out to LV more than anything else. Love it and miss it out there.

I'll be looking forward to your updates like in the past!

I doubt I'll be able to go this year, but who knows? :)

Going out for the 1st 2 weeks in June. Can't wait. Will look to play one or two event but ultimately will be the fiances decision as its only me and her going this trip :rolleyes2:.

Having never been to Vegas during WSOP I assume the cash action is crazy? I may just opt for acouple of cash sessions and take a trip down to the Rio to watch a final table should there be some big guns in the mix.

Cash action should be carnage at the Rio, from memory, and all the strip cardrooms will pick up some extra action as a byproduct of the series.

Schedule has been released now, and it looks pretty decent.

Heading out on the 18th June, and coming home when the m/e is over.

    Best of luck, guys!

I'll be there for the last week of June, and first two weeks of July, This is the third time I will be there during the WSOP, but the first time that my visit will coincide with the Main Event. As in previous years, I will definitely be playing some bracelet events but whether or not I play the Main will depend on whether I can cash big in those. I will also probably fire a couple of bullets in satellites and try to get in that way.

Not sure if they ran it last year, but they have in the past. Found one of the final tables on WSOP.com.

They won't record these tourneys for broadcast, but almost all of the final tables have a live stream, and videos of the old ones are on the site. Many of them have commentary, usually from David Tuchman. This one doesn't, but can't blame them as the analysis of all of the different games would get incredibly difficult.

It's been around a couple of years. They'll probably stream some of it. I need to get more money, so I can feel okay blowing $1500 in that event...lol

When possible they try to get someone like Brian Rast, or Nick Schulman in to commentate on the non holdem/plo finals.

Schulman is a superb commentator, and definitely manages to put his thoughts across well, which sometimes can't be easy to do.

Just got home from a few days at the WSOPc stop at Potawatomi in Milwaukee... I played in events 4, 6, and 7. No cashes for me on this trip, which was doubling as a business trip. I've been having a good streak of cashing in the local/regional tournaments, as well as over the summer during the Wynn Summer Poker Open and in the fall during Venetian Deepstacks... so was looking forward to some new competition.

Event 4 - $365 NL Holdem - out of the three events I played, I made it the deepest in this one. 179 entrants, 18 got paid, and I finished around 30th, late in the evening on the first of two days. Played most of the day with a very aggressive and entertaining player, who ultimately knocked me out (I flopped top set and shoved vs a flush draw, he called and hit his flush on the river). That guy went on to win the entire tournament, so I guess it was good my chips went to good use LOL.

Event 6 - $365 NL Holdem 6-Max - out of the three events I played, I was knocked out of this one the earliest. 200ish entrants, I may have made it 3 levels. They broke my first table and put me at a table with 'the aggressive meathead jerk' who had already knocked a few people out and was sitting on like 7x the starting stack already. He loved to 4-bet or 5-bet then show the bluff. After seeing this like 4 times in 2 orbits, I decided not to bend over for this guy anymore... when I raised with AQ and he 3-bet, I shoved, and of course the guy has AA. Next....

Event 7 - $365 NL Holdem Monster Stack - the other two events were 10k chip events, this one starts you with 20k chips, that's the "monster" stack. I basically folded for 7 levels (nearly 4 hours) with nothing, totally card dead. I think the best hand I saw was K9. It was painful watching people catch decent hands, and double or triple up at times. Every time I had a K in my hand there was an A on the flop. Every time I had an A in my hand, there were low cards and pairs on the flop. It may have been the slowest tournament for my cards I'd ever been in. I did try to get tricky and buy a pot or two, but apparently I didn't have good reads either time, and they had good hands both times, so I couldn't even use my fold equity... By the time I got down to around 4500 chips, the blinds were 50/200/400 and I found JJ, I knew that was the hand to make or break my tournament. One small raise before me to 850 and I shoved... insta-called by KK. So that was game-over for me.

Hoping to hit the Millionaire Maker event in June in Vegas, possibly a couple of the daily deepstacks during that week if I get knocked out of that. Marky - jealous you get to spend that time out there, look forward to the day I can do the same.

Heck I'd kick in a bit towards your effort in exchange for live reporting!

What's to stop the dealer from just effing with players, for whatever reason. I imagine the more temperamental players go on hissy fits when they have to play such-and-such again LOL

Never considered selling myself. Hmmm. Haha

And yeah, some players will call the same game a lot. When playing low limit dealer's choice at Suncoast, I called some form of triple draw lowball each time. I still had 5 choices to pick from though I think. The game's creator was on a major triple draw hi/lo kick when we played. He called it every time! Lol

Unlucky on your trip, but as you know yourself, we're in for pain > 90% of the time when we enter a bigger field tourney.

Still, a couples nice runs to keep yourself fresh, and hopefully you'll hit a nice run of luck in the summer.

I live a very boring life, and don't get out much the rest of the year, so take almost all my holidays in one go :D

I don't do Vegas like a lot of people do, and don't go balls to the wall from the minute I land. I tend to play a bit in the day, then go for a dinenr and maybe a few drinks at night. Sometimes those few drinks go a bit overtime, and I'm there until 6am, but then I have a day or 2 off...

I probably spend more money on food than anything else in Vegas, and never get comped anything, because I don't really play any table games.

Registered for Millionaire Maker (event 20) Day 1B online tonight - you can reg/pay for any of the WSOP tournaments under $10k through Bravo's website - and it's available now. Anyone going should consider doing this to save time (I just have to go show ID and pick up my seating assignment now - something new in the last year or two - at least since I last played in this).

Looks like my schedule of tournaments/events while in LV will be:
    • Fri 6/9 - arrive, maybe some 2/5 cash game warmup at Venetian or Bellagio, adjust to staying up late (time zones)
    • Sat 6/10 - Wynn $550 NLH tournament (Wynn Summer Classic)
    • Sun 6/11 - WSOP Millionaire Maker Day 1B (World Series of Poker)
    • Mon 6/12 (if not in Day 2 of WSOP Milly Maker) - Venetian $600 NLH Day 1C (Venetian Deep Stack Series)
    • Tues 6/13 (if not in Day 3 of WSOP or Day 2 of Venetian) - Aria $400 NLH (Aria Poker Classic)
    • Wed 6/14 (if not in Day 4/final table of WSOP) - Aria $400 NLH or Bellagio $200 "shot clock tournament"
Trying to hit a few of the big series while I'm in town. I look forward to the point in my life when I can spend a few weeks (or even more) out there during the summer series. :)

If anyone is going to be out there at the same time, and even playing in any of these same tournaments, and wants to grab a snack on a break or just talk cards, let me know. I enjoy hearing how the cards are falling for you too - I always learn something new when I am talking to other players, all skill levels. Perspective is what it's all about, and I enjoy getting multiple perspectives on these types of things.

Decided on a few changes to my plan.

First off, not going to enter directly into Millionaire Maker. Might try a satellite in if they are running.

Second, going to play more cash game, and focus on that more than tournaments. I will still plan on playing in the Wynn and Venetian tournaments I listed out above. Beyond that, maybe a few smaller ones (WSOP daily deep stacks for example). But I plan on focusing on 2/5 and maybe 5/10 NLHE during my trip. Will make it much easier for time management (start when I want, end when I want, not worry about getting somewhere by a certain time, etc).

I've never done the cash focus but think I can probably make more $ that way during my trip.

No change in plans to make daily live TR updates and take pics/vids to share.
