We all like to talk about our best wins, for obvious reasons. What about our worst lossess??? About a month ago we went to the local casino and came home with $2500 more than we went with. About 2 weeks ago we went to the same place and came home with $4000 less than we went with. Thrill of victory and agony of defeat I guess. Strangely, we had just as much fun each time.

By and large we keep to an annual budget for gambling, we are retired so we think of it as our "entertainment" budget (since we don't spend alot on kids anymore). Some people think we are crazy to put as much money at risk as we do but that's what makes it exciting and that's what it's all about I think!

We like getting the nicest rooms (at our local place not Vegas) and head of the line privelages but once in a while we just get our heads handed to us and it "smarts" a bit.

    How about you???

I budget by the day for gambling, so I've never dropped more than 500 in a day (200 at poker, 300 at BJ). That max loss was at Caesars Windsor.

In Vegas my worst days are around -300. My worst trip was maybe 500-600 in the hole (on a gambling budget of 1000).

Then again with higher lows come lower highs. My best day is around +400 or so.

I too have a daily limit, 500-600 depending on my bankroll.

But the worst I have never told, even to my brother who's been my craps gambling partner for 25 years...........

I'll go to my grave.......I tell everyone it was a beat down of biblical proportions.

I have lost a couple $10k bets on sports in the past and once dropped $12k on a single craps session. But the worst return I have ever had for an entire trip is probably losing about $6k to $7k

With a low daily budget the damage wouldn't be too bad but it would sting just a bit. As long as they don't run out of alcohol I will live through it.

i've had my share of losing trips. i had one period where it felt like i couldn't make a winning trip to save my life. but who wants to think about bad trips? i know for me it takes about a week, but then i've put it out of my memory and i'm back thinking about the good trips and positive vibes. i try to keep the good trips close in my memory and the bad ones far, far away.

Ditto, but unfortunately, my worst losing trip was just over a week ago, and it's still festering
Can't wait to get it out of my memory!

Are we talking net loss for a trip or biggest swing from positive to negative in a single trip?

My biggest ever swing in a single trip was at Wynn back in '07 - went from being up $250K at one point in the trip to down $40K by the end of the trip for a total positive to negative swing of $290K.

My biggest ever net loss on a single trip was $62.5K - also at Wynn, back in '08.

Only a few thousand which was whatever my bankroll for that trip was. It never really happens to be the amount that bothers me later on though. It is in the manner in which the money was lost. There are just some trips where every single table is just evil. 2 wins in 20 hands at a BJ table, not once but many times in a trip. Those times when betting football and every single game you bet is a winner up until 2 minutes left in the game.

I am currently experiencing the worst Vegas losing streak of my life. Last weekend marked my eighth consecutive loss. And unfortunately, I don’t mean those “well, I probably got at least that much in free stuff” kind of losses. I mean actual “paying three grand a night for that free $250 hotel room” kind of losses.

The thing that bothers me most is that I haven’t really done anything “wrong” (other than play a negative expectation game, of course:rolleyes2:). I play “good” games. Probably 90+% of my money goes to BJ, and only the games with the very best rules. And the rest goes to craps, which isn’t as good as BJ in terms of HA, but certainly isn’t that bad either. Plus, I’ve actually been fairly disciplined during this stretch. Only once have I pissed away what should have been a decent win, only to go home down. In fact, I have only been ahead twice (and I don’t mean “ahead for the day”, I mean actually ahead at all) during the entire losing streak!

Oh well. What are you going to do? That’s gambling.

Worst trip was a $6000 loss a few years ago. Not bad considering that I sometimes play at a highish level ($200+ BJ, $150+ craps, $5 VP).

What hurt about the $6000 loss was that I ended the trip at the low point having been nearly $20,000 up earlier in the trip. That's the way it goes sometimes!

Worst loss in terms of it hurt me the most? 1st trip to Vegas in '04. Lost my entire roll that brought of ~$800. I was a Senior in college and that was about two months of expenses for me. Fortunately there was a juicy home poker game where I got it all back once I was back home.

Worst loss in overall $$$. About $1500 Halloween weekend of '10. Couldn't buy a winning shoe at BJ, and thought it would be smart to "learn" craps.

This go around, i'll have my knowledge before I head to Vegas.

    Nothing to brag about...

Prob'ly no more than 3k in a trip (multiple sessions and casinos). It sure hurts when you're ahead to start with but end up giving it all and more back.

You can be absolutely sure though that people lose more money in the stock market, all sorts of "business ventures" and other fun things in life than they do in Vegas casinos.

Most folks are quite conservative when it comes to gambling unless of course you're a distinct cousin of John Daly.

Single trip loss: about $3000 (spread over 6 days)

Single SWING loss: about $3400 (I'm adding a little bit for fees), and committed at one casino (Cosmo) over a 9 hour period. I came in about midnight feeling great and up about $1600 (I only came in for the one day) from some nice slot jackpots earlier in the day. Before long I'd dispensed with all the cash in my pockets and hit the ATM to pull my $600 daily limit. That disappeared quickly so I then took a $1000 cash advance on my credit card. By 9:30AM I was flat out busted and didn't have a single cent left in my pocket. I had to wait about 40 minutes to get a taxi that would take American Express (my company credit card) to take me back to Luxor so I could check out of a hotel room which I hadn't even slept in (my suitcase was sitting on top of the still made bed).

VERY low roller, but my worst time was losing $100 in about 15 minutes @ Harrahs playing Miss. Stud THEN watching my wife chuckle (good naturedly) and her going back to the same table and losing another 100 in 10 minutes. Love the game but dang!!! LOL

My worst loss isn't so much of a net loss as it was a "what was I thinking?" moment.

Had a very short trip last month for a few days and was up about $4k. I decided RIGHT before I head to the airport I'll play some high stakes poker.

I cab over to the wynn and sit down at a 5/10/20 game with my full winnings. A 5/10/20 games has 3 blinds for those that don't know. Anyway, things don't really go my way and I'm down to my last $1k when the table breaks. It's still about 30 minutes before I need to head to the airport.

So I take my $1k and head to blackjack and go on a huge heater and win back all my money plus a little extra. I walk away from blackjack with about $4.2k (all in winnings). Nice, now to head to the taxi stand.... but in my path is a baccarat table calling my name.

Chips in hand I head over and put it all on bank. Keep in mind this is the biggest SINGLE bet I've ever made by a large margin.

We know how this story goes, and next thing you know I'm even for the trip. That felt like my biggest loss, because after losing all my money I had gotten it all back and still kept going :)

My story is more of a close call. Had a $2000 bankroll for a 3 night comped stay at the Luxor a few years ago. Was a slots only player back then. I was down top my last $100 on the last night, playing a nickel video slot (called Slotsky, had a Russian duck character). Got many layers deep into a bonus round and won all my money back. That is the closest I ever came to losing my bankroll and would have been my worst loosing trip ever.
