After picking up my suitcase in baggage claim, stepping outside the door to go to the shuttle buses for the car rental facility was the back of the line. It snaked around on the sidewalk just outside the baggage claim, then there was a break for thru traffic, then it snaked once again on the island where you wait for the bus. I just said, “F*ck it!”, and went straight across baggage claim and spent the best $20 for a taxicab over to the car rental facility. Then the real fun began-I saw my name on the Fastbreak board at Budget with a spot and walked to it. One problem-my name was on the parking spot, but the contract was for someone else. iIt was about a 45 minute wait in the line for the Fastbreak office outside, before I was then matched up with a car.

This is really disappointing to hear on a number of levels. First, for what car rentals are going for these days service should not have deteriorated to this degree. Second, if indeed the line was as long as you describe that means they are running fewer busses which again is inexcusable based on the level of taxation paid for car rentals in Vegas. Often times the "fees" are as high as the rental itself.

The only thing that may be happening is a lack of employees to staff the shuttle operation(s).

As for the "mix up" at Budget, I have seen their service also go to shit. AND, I think they eliminated the Fastbreak line upstairs so if you do run into a problem as you did you end up having to go upstairs and encounter the disaster of waiting in a huge line.

I sure hope they get these issues resolved.

I'm glad I canceled my September trip. I will reschedule after the Covid S#@% gets straightened out and when people go back to work. In place of Vegas, the wife and I are going on a road trip to 6 Native American casinos in six days here in Michigan . Ain't Vegas, but still fun.

We came in on Tuesday at noon and there were almost no lines, cabs, uber available etc. Rental car shuttle was short also. Sad to hear it is that much grief to get a car now

Good to know. Thanks for the info on this. I get in tomorrow at about 5.20PM. Hopefully because tomorrow is Sunday the shuttle line won't be as bad as you experienced. I'm preparing for the worst though.

Oh, what day and about what time of day did this happen? Sometime on Saturday?

One of the reasons we decides to stick with National over Budget, even though we could have saved some money. I remember arriving back to the airport on a Friday afternoon on one of our last couple of trips and seeing the line for the rental car shuttle very long just like the OP described! Another reason we will not arrive in Vegas on a Friday or Saturday!!

Arrived last night around 8 pm. Waited about 1/2 hour for bus to car rental. The busses were coming about every 15 minutes 2 to 3 at a time. Rented from Alamo. No line. I had pre checked in. Sent us up - garage empty of cars. had full size reserved. They gave us a Rav 4.

Two trips ago, I had a really long wait for shuttle. Gf and I were there and she had a checked bag. I decided to go ahead for shuttle in case rental car line was long.

Bus took like 40 mins. 20 mins ina bus pulled up and driver came by and said he was going on break but supposedly one would pull up in 5 mins.

We didn't get going u til he got off his break.

GF got bag and she told me she got on bus immediately and she arrived less than 5 minutes after I did on the shuttle for which I had waited 40 mins.

This was around 11pm on a Tuesday.

    Edit:
I rented form Budget and there was no line that Tuesday. When we returned on Sunday, I saw a really long line for Budget ((around 930-945).

Fortunately the return trip to the rental car facility was quite satisfactory. Two people from Budget were checking the dropped off vehicles and I quickly received my receipt and walked straight to an awaiting shuttle bus for the ride to the airport.

    I lucked out.

There was no line at the car rental shuttle when I arrived so I got on the shuttle right away. Also, just two people in line at Alamo so was able to get checked in with very little wait time. I go to pick up my car and to my dismay there were NO CARS (full size) in the group that I reserved. Fortunately an Alamo rep came up and asked me what type of car I had reserved. I told him a full size and he said that one was just returned and he'd have it over in ten minutes or so. SCORE! :D

The rental car shuttle for me Sunday morning September 19th was shorter than it was my last trip in mid April 2021. I did notice that the hotel shuttles that you pay for are running again, so
that should cut down on the rental car shuttle lines as some people will not rent cars if you can get the shuttle.
The line still moved fast, your experience might vary with the day and time you arrive.
