Long story short...We built a custom home and moved in when it was completed and then put our house on the market two months ago. We had lots of traffic and a month ago we got an offer contingent upon them selling their home. We accepted knowing if a better offer came along they would either have to come up with the money or their offer would become a secondary offer.

Well Friday, somebody came in and offered cash, no contingencies except for a well/water inspection. No septic test, no home inspection. Offer not as good as first one, but cash in hand is better. We close two days before we leave for Vegas!!

Oh, it's going to be a good trip!! And maybe I'll finally get a good night's sleep. It's been stressful the last two months.

Cash? Must be a Vmb member to know cash talks and your ears are particularly open to such a conversation.
Congrats on the first win of the upcoming trip. (Did the guy actually have an accent and a giant briefcase full of hundreds?).
Would be a better story if it was the same buyer that purchased the million dollar display at Binions and it was just like 22 - 10,000$ bills. Sign here Mr. Joe and wel'll be on our way.
Best of luck on the trip!

Congrats Joe! What a weight off of yours and Mrs. Joe's shoulders. MSS better look out 'cause you're on a roll now! :woohoo:

Congrats, the smart move would be to take maybe 1/2 that cash to vegas and try to double it!

Congratulations to you and the Mrs. Joe!!! I'm sure that's a load-off... I'm just at the onset of listing my Mom's house, as we had to move her into the memory care section of an assisted living community. Septic inspection, pest inspection, this, that... I'm happy for you folks!

Congrats on the home sale. Good thing it sold before the real snow flies we had two houses in winter and it was the December when Milwaukee had ove 50 inches of snow. I had plenty of sleepless nights but it was because I was constantly clearing our two driveways plus Mom and Dad's.

Now that you sold your house.... where do you plan to live? Will you buy another house or rent? I want to sell my condo some day and then become a renter since I am a senior now. I just want to know what other seniors have done.

Are you implying Joe is in the "senior" class? I never thought about that.

I think he may be a baby boomer.

50+ years ago an uncle on my mother's side came to WI to get his inheritance after his father, my grandpa died. On his drive back to CA, he stopped in Vegas and lost it all. Time has a way of fudging memories, but three of my aunts from that same side of the family claim it was close to $100,000.

I just looked it up and that would be close $750,000 in today's dollars. Everybody always talked about him being the gambler in the family, so who knows?

Glad you got it sold. Wish me luck in selling mine. It was a barren summer, but at least everything in the house looks nice and works properly.

Poor bastard, prob played them tight/unlucky machines at the MSS.

Congratulations on the sale. I know how stressful it can be. We sold & downsized last year. This should be an awesome Christmas for you!

Congratulations! I bet you're glad you sold before the snows came though. Probably slows the real estate market a bit, and even more with the holidays.

Enjoy your trip with your newly fattened bankroll.

Congrat's on the sale and best of luck on your trip!
It's definitely stressful buying or selling a home. We finally just closed on a house and the months leading up to that were some of the most stressful that I can remember.
I hope you win big in VEGAS!!!

Our agent calls last night and says the original people now have an accepted offer on their house, but can't close until late January. Their offer is $15,000 more than cash guy, but I'm sticking with the bird in the hand theory, so we said no. Wisconsin winters can be brutal and I don't want to worry about two houses for another 6 weeks. Snow, furnace etc...

I agree. We also sold for less for cash. It was worth the peace of mind. You can now enjoy sleep & fun!
