I had to read the article twice to figure out how the other passenger caught it. (Duh on my part I was thinking like a Southwest cattle boarder). This was a Delta Flight with assigned seats - so she was sitting in the seat of the real passenger. I guess my question is the same as title of the article. How did she get past the TSA screeners and how did she get on undetected.

I'm surprised she got by the security checkpoint, let alone on the plane.

Either she was slicker the bird doo doo or she had some inside help. Getting through both check points???? Sounds fishy to me. Poor passengers having to get pat down etc.. -- but I understand safety first.

I saw this on the morning shows... just crazy... shocking that she got that far and shocking how delusional she seems! More importantly, I feel for the other passengers just trying to do stuff the right way... WOW, what an inconvenience!!!

Thinking outside the box here, was she maybe on the plane from a previous flight, or on another plane and social-engineered her way ("Uh, I left my {whatever} on the plane ...") on to that one?

Something is very weird here. Unless the TSA there is VERY incompetent, which is possible, she had to have had a boarding pass to get on the plane. The only way this makes sense is if there was a catastrophic security breakdown in TSA and Delta at the same time. Luckily she didn't get on a SWA flight where there is no telling how they would have handled it.

wow - that is really a good point... she could have been unnoticed if she was in the bathroom - or if she was hiding under the seats.. otherwise how could she get through security? and boarding?

But she didn’t have an ID- or at least wouldn’t produce one.

In the story from one of the Orlando stations she showed the flight attendant a picture of herself on her phone when asked for ID. They told her that wasn't a picture ID and she said "It's good enough!" :haha:

She sounds like maybe she was mentally ill or under the influence of something.

I guess that’s one of the reasons the flight attendants take a head count.

If she had gotten off a different plane she wouldn't have to go through security. I can picture someone slipping past the attendant at the top of the jetway.

    Possible reasons this happened:

    1. Incompetence.

    2. "I don't care, that's not my job" attitude.

    3. The lady was a ghost.

    4. The lady has Obi-Wan-Kenobi skills (Power of suggestion)

I HOPE she was on a flight with a connection. Didn’t get off but changed seats. She is a bit “off” and that surfaced when asked.
OTHERWISE there is a bigger problem than my interpretation for the reasoning behind me to be taking off my shoes and belt. And if that’s the case, as usual, someone (me and you) gets penalized in the future.

Article said she was not on passenger manifest. I know SW has those continuing on a flight stay seated and then they take a head count Then passengers can switch seats since SW doesn’t have assigned seats.

I guess we have to wait for the rest of the story.....

Latest article says FBI now also investigating. She was escorted off plane and then to a shuttle and not arrested. Hopefully they did some screening -- got her real identification, psyc eval or something. All the passengers had to be re-screened causing a three hour delay. Can you imagine if that was a flight to Vegas cutting into someone's degenerate time???

According to Buzzfeed - A Transportation Security Administration spokesperson told BuzzFeed News the woman had gone through TSA screening. So she had to have an id and boarding pass at some point.
