get in tell him where im going he starts the metter and he hits the added 2.00$ extra fare surchage when i press him about it he says he hit the airport fee by mistake. trust me his tip reflected my mistake.

next trip , get in he trys to go in wrong direction to long haul and then bitches hes been driving 30 years and knowbody has too tell him how to go

on a personal note i find lyft to be cheaper than uber out in vegas

also got picked up in a tesla today from lyft

use lyft line its great

PSSS. THE TRIP COST ABOUT 4$ MORE THAN LYFT WOULD HAVE EACH TIME ALMOST DOUBLE /LFYT 5$ CAB A LITTLE OVER 9$ PLUS THE VIG

I think cap drivers are mad at lyft and uber drivers/ users. Over the summer I used the cap and driver was goin on and on about how he thinks users are stupid etc..... this year in Vegas trips I'm planning on using lyft or uber... I had it with cap drivers.... I personally think they are the stupid ones not realizing their job very livehood is on the line yet they can't offer better service than lyft or uber....

Cab drivers are still trying to make a living. If you want to use uber or lyft, that's fine, but don't get pissed at cab drivers. You don't have to use them. Uber, lyft, taxis,or busses are available to all of us, and if I got mad about having to pay an extra 5 or 10 dollars for a ride, It's not going to ruin my vacation.

Can you give us some insight into your punctuation strategy?
Lol

To reply to OP, I had a similar experience the last time I went to Vegas. Dropped off the rental car I used to get out there, my buddy didn't want to wait for an Uber and my phone was dead. Cab right out front, we hop in and off we go. I notice we go well east of the strip, over the highway, and then up a road next to the highway. I quickly turn on the GPS and notice he bypassed not 1 but 2 routes that would have been shorter by 5 miles!

I press the issue a little, but that same buddy has had me in another cab ride where the driver long hauled and didn't want the same situation. My buddy calmed me down said we will do Uber everytime and he would pick up the cab fare. Didn't make me feel any better but I got my 2 cents in about how the cab drivers are the demise of the cab business in that town to the cabbie.

Thats fine when they are honest, and in reality I would probably use them more often than not due to ease of finding them. Unfortunately, they are the easiest to find and the most reliable to rip you off.

It shouldnt even need to cross my mind that I have to make a choice on the basis of how likely I am to get ripped off, but now we do on our vacations.

Sorry but no is pussed at cabbies for no reason. Adding an airport surcharge for a pickup at a casino is one of the dirtiest things I've heard in awhile. It's not simply cost that's driving people to ride share - it's dishonesty on the part of cabbies that's led to this transition happening so quickly.

Actually I think it's city charging airport surcharge and cap companies passing it down to customers - I may be wrong if someone knows for sure please let me know.
But yes, some of the cabbies ar very dishonest I had numerous occasions where from airport they are taking freeways to go strips.taking longer route etc.. not to mention very rude.

Uber or Lyft every time now for me. First time I went Vegas I was long hauled by a taxi. Obviously he knew I was new to Vegas.

Now with knowing the ins and outs I used uber last time and was impressed. As with staying at different on/off strip hotels last time it cut the cost and no chance of being ripped off as you can see the price before you take the ride.

Taxi drivers have had their day ripping off unsuspecting tourists.

I asked a cabbie once why they have a reputation of stealing from people? He had this to say:

I don't steal. To think it's stealing is absurd. I didn't grab their wallets, they handed me the money. If you hand me the money, I wait a second to see if you notice. If you don't, the money is mine.

There are stories emerging if lyft/uber drivers doing the same, long hauling, over-charging, not showing up but still charging, etc. It's the industry, there is good and bad. Pay your money, take your choice! I use a mix of walking, monorail, cabs, uber, etc, mainly what's convenient. A few dollars here and there isn't going to make or break my trip.

Except with Uber/lyft you have recourse. Contact and usually resolved in your favor.

I agree that cabbies attitudes are reflecting their loss of business. Too bad. That's life. Things change. Adapt or die. Being a stock broker used to be a good profession. Travel agent as well. Some still survive in those professions but for the most part those have been changed by technology. Now it's the taxi industry that is changing. Long overdue. I'm in the IT field and have been a long time. It's changed drastically since the influx of H1B Visa workers. Hate it but had to adapt.

LOL. I thought you said you were done with that thread. You need a therapist.

The only time an airport surcharge is assessed is from rides FROM THE AIRPORT. You don't even pay it being dropped off at the airport. Yes, the county and state assess it but the cabbie was up to no good charging it on a ride from the Linq.
