    My Trip Report

About 2 weeks away from our trip to nevada. Have 4 nights booked at Whiskey Pete's In Primm and the middle 2 nights booked at the Lady Luck.

My wife hates to pack and unpack luggage so we can leave all the luggage at Whiskey Pete's and take a small suitcase into vegas.

Cash wise the hotels are free. 2 nights at WP from a mailer and 2 nights free at Lady Luck from a mailer.Lady Luck has assured us that we will have a tower room, not a garden room. Will need to use players club points for the other 2 nights at WP.

    To Do List:

2k coin in at Lady Luck as insurance for future offers.

10K coin in at the Primm properties to get the good offers.

Will try 2K coin in at Main street Station to see if any offers are forthcoming. We will want to have a buffet there so it won't be out of the way. Might try to throw a few bucks at Fitzgeralds to see what we get.

$10.99 steak and Lobster at Binion's.

My wife wants to play her favorite penny double diamond machine at the Gold Spike, so I may need to park myself on a nickel VP machine.

Still want to try the Silverton, the Hilton, Terrible's, Sam's Town.

Need to play a few bucks on my Coast Casinos card.

Too much to do and not enough cash.

    room deals etc,

    Jacko,

LV Hilton’s slot card program is a good one. I'm a low roller and get all kinds of mailers from them. Not freebies mind you, but things like slot tourneys, buy one get one free nights, etc. The slot tourneys are good offers - 3 nights / 4 days stay, the entry fee to the tourney, sometimes a free buffet and / or an open bar deal, etc, all for $99.00.

Usually everybody who enters wins a minimum of $50.00, so at the end of the day, when you are guaranteed $50.00 in the tourney and 3 nights accommodation for the $99.00 fee that works out to like 16 bucks a night for the room. Plus Comp dollars earned can be used to reduce your charges even further.

The other one I just got was a $75.00 per night rate, get one night free. Good for most Sunday-Thursday dates for Sept, Oct and Nov. $37.50 per night, is a great rate, and again comp dollars accepted as payment.

I've stayed twice and they knocked off a good portion of the room charges both visits. I can't remember exactly, but I think I saved $43.00 the first time round and about $50.00 the second time. All in all it was a great savings. LVH has come a long way since Resorts International has taken over.

Oh, and to boot, I used the POV $45.00 room rate coupon on one visit and the ACG $45.00 room rate on the other visit. So the room was already discounted and the comp dollars I earned from play reduced it even more. I know I'll be back at LVH for sure on future visits to Vegas.

One more thing, IMO - the best race book in town

Scour though the website www.lvhilton.com Look at the Special offers sections, some of the tourneys, are here some others are not.

I don't know if the prices for these would be different for folk who got the mailers and for folk who found out about them on the website. I looked at one and a price was not listed on the website for the tourney. It just said to call the hotel for details.

Looking at the 30,000 Mexican Fiesta Tourney for example, my mailer says to ask for the "30,000 Mexican Fiesta". On the web for folk who found out about it there, it says to ask for the “Internet $30,000 Mexican Fiesta Slot Tournament.†I wonder if this determines the price of the entry fee, the quote that you are required to give to the reservation agent??

    Slight tweak to the agenda....

Just got promoted on thursday! Not sure of the new pay rate but probably about $400 a month more. The new rate doesn't kick in until after our trip.

    The new plan..........

With the lack of concerts coming up at Primm I don't feel the need to hit the $10K coin in amount. $2K should be enough.

$2K coin in at the Lady Luck.

$2K coin in at Main Street Station.

Should be able to reach that level easy and still have plenty of cash left to upgrade our dining a bit and hit the Gold Spike. The other projects will probably be tried during our next trip when I have a higher income. Hilton, Silverton, and others.

I have 2 days of work left before I'm off to Primm.....WOO HOO!!!

Congrats on the promotion!! If you plan to upgrade your dining some--I have a plan to try all the "upscale" restaurants at the downtown hotels--Pullman Grill at MSS, Burgundy Room at Lady Luck, 2nd St. Grill at Fremont, Redwood Grill at California (had that--GREAT), Great Moments Room at Vegas Club (had that twice, loved it!), Hugo's Cellar at 4 Queens, Roberta's at El Cortez......Golden Nugget has a couple but I don't consider them "Downtown Gourmet Rooms" (I have very specific and strange rules, don't mind me  ) Hope you have fun!!!!

I'll try to keep focused on things that others might find helpful.

Gambling was a slow grind down. Some ups but more downs.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nevada information center at Primm is out of Primm coupon books.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Gambling

My fave is Jack's or Better Video Poker.....

Lot's of full pay 25c JOB(Jack's or Better) at Lady Luck

Full Pay 25c JOB at Binion's

Couldn't find any at Primm, Gold Spike or Fitzgeralds.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dining

No improvement at Whiskey Pete's Buffet. Pretty weak as always.

    Fitzgeralds buffet sucks.

Main Street Station Buffet was great as always.

The deep fried twinkie at Mermaids is pretty darn tasty.

The $10.95 Steak and Lobster at Binions is a great deal. There is a $3 off coupon for players club members in the magazine that all the hotels have in the room. I think the Mag is called "What's On"? This brought the price down to $7.95.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Accomodations

    Liked Whiskey Pete's.....just like always

Lady Luck- Had a West Tower room. Carpet was a bit stained. The room had a fridge, AC was quiet and cold...not sure how it would be at 110 degrees but at 91 degrees it kept the room just fine.
Long walk and 2 elevators to get to the room.
Long walk on the roof and down stairs to get to the pool. No Lifeguard, so we couldn't drop off the kids and go play like at Whiskey Pete's.

Overall a bit nicer than our previous Whiskey Pete's-Gold Spike outing.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Entertainment

Basically none- except the lounge bands at Primm on friday night were OK.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Players Club Cards

Hit the $2,000 coin in level at Lady Luck. Should get some future offers.

Put about $5,000 coin in at Primm, will get offers for sure, but maybe not concert offers. I haven't yet figured out if Primm uses a per trip average or quarterly total or yearly total for deciding who gets the concert offers.

Played a couple hundred through at Circus Circus(one club card).

Joined Club Fitz at fitzgeralds and played maybe $300

Joined Binion's Club on a thursday to get the $3 discount on the Steak and Lobster.. They had triple points days on Tues and Thurs. They have an offer that if you get 250 points in one day, you get a six pack of Bud or Bud Light(7 OZ. Bottles) or six pack of Pepsi or Diet Pepsi. Maximum four six packs per day. 25c Video Poker needed 2 coins in(50c) for a point. I played about 2 or 3 hours of quarter VP and got the four six packs. I had way more points than I needed. I think about 1600 not including the triple points day which would be about 800 coin in. I was tired lugging a case back to the Lady Luck.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Insult to injury dept.

Had a losing trip..Then.........After leaving on Aug 16 and returning Aug 20, returned home to find an offer from Primm for the August 27 Al Jarreau concert + 2 nights for free. That means at the earliest I might have received the offer 11 days before the concert. No way I can go back next week. Looks like I might need to work some OT and hope for an offer for the Sept. 16 B-52's concert.

I missed your TR the first time through. Good info. I'm surprised about the FP JoB at Lady Luck. I thought the table games there looked kinda gimmicky last March.

    Second feedback

Just another update from a guy who varies between 5c and 25c VP. I'm not looking to push any paticular place.....just trying to find the best comps for my level of play.

    Still nothing from:

    Circus Circus
    Lady Luck
    Binion's
    Fitzgerald's

Got a one free night offer from Jean,NV. This is a Birthday offer. Mine is in October. The one free night is good for one year....the only restriction is it can't be on a holiday or holiday weekend. This is a good offer for me as I enjoy their 25c 9/6 JOB VP.

Lately the offers from Primm have been coming real often. I must have hit some level of coin-in but not the top level. In addition to the previously named offer, I have received:

    1)

2 free nights at any of the 3 Primm hotels on sep. 30 + Oct. 1 or Oct. 1+2. Includes a free Oktoberfest Pool party at Primm Valley Resort on Oct 1. Plus a Drawing ticket for a 15K cash drawing(10K top prize). The Pool party is a German Buffet & Beer Garden, all you can eat and drink with German entertainment.

Note: I can't take advantage of this offer. The offer came too late to request leave.

    2)

1 free night at any of the 3 Primm hotels on Oct 15 plus 2 free tickets to see Sugar Ray.

Note: See GOOD PROBLEM DEPT. (below)

    3)

3 free nights at any of the 3 Primm hotels Mon-Thu Oct 17-20 plus two days free Bingo tue-wed oct. 18-19. 17.5K prizes each day.

Note: With kids in school....midweek is a problem. Can't use this offer.

    GOOD PROBLEM DEPT.-

I already booked a room from the previously mentioned offer at Primm Valley for 2 nights....then the Sugar Ray concert 1 night offer arrived. I don't have enough players club points to cancel the previous reservation and book the concert plus one night using points. So I have to stick with what I have or pay one night cash at prevailing rates to get the concert. Seems like I will stay with the current resevations and try to forget the Concert offer ever existed.

Well, its just Sugar Ray.. They aren't very good in concert, at least thats my opinion...

I used to get great offers from Primm from playing one night of craps. I stood at that damn table for 12 hours and took a TON from the place. When I didnt use them they dried up. Now, I wish they were still around! I would get Three nights and cash plus some concert I had no intent on going to.

    Memories!!!!

    Follow up

I stuck with my original reservations. The weekend free but no concert.

A co-worker/friend got the same One night + sugar ray concert offer. He had never gambled at primm, but I told him previously to stop in on his way back from vegas to sign up for a primm players card. I then had used the card to put $1000 coin-in on video poker........... My friend first got a 2 night weekday offer... but then a week before the concert got the same Sugar Ray offer that I got.

My friend booked the one night and took his parents. He gave me his extra concert ticket and I bought another ticket for my wife for 45 bucks.

We all had a great time. My friend had previously been losing money on slots during his trips to vegas. I got him to research blackjack and practice on yahoo. He dropped about 40 bucks during the course of his trip while getting about $2K coin-in. He was very happy since he was used to budgeting about $200 for gambling and losing it all.

Since there was only one video blackjack machine at Whiskey Pete's (where he was staying) I played some nickel caveman keno next to him and put it on automatic. After waiting about an hour for a cocktail waitress, I tracked one down. Once she saw we both were $1 tippers she was coming around faster than we could drink.

We both came home to find the same Montel Williams/Hal Ketchum offer in the mail. Probably will pass on it and hope for the Jodee Messina offer.(fingers crossed).

I had a great prime rib 6.99 special at Primm Valley and a decent dinner buffet.

Got the runs about halfway through the Buffalo Bill's buffet. Pass on that next time.

Overall a great time to be had for both of us.

    update

Got an offer from Circus circus for some various $29 nights when Travelworm has the same nights for $33. .....Ho Humm.

    Nothing from binions
    Nothing from Fitzgeralds
Lady Luck has only sent a free night during my birthday month(october). Had to pass.

    Primm has sent 4 offers.

    1) Weekdays in nov/dec +$10 gas and 150 points on selected dates. (Maybe a go.)

    2) Veterans day party+banquet and VIP fireworks seating. (couldn't swing it.)

    3) 2 nights and free bingo. (might've been do-able but not that interested and hoping for concert offers)

    4) 2 free nights + 2 free tickets to Collin Raye + 2 free buffets. This is a good one and I would like to see the concert. Problem is that the offer came about 8 days before the concert on Thanksgiving weekend. Having just recently been promoted, I have bad days off due to lack of seniority in the position, and getting Thanksgiving day weekend off is unlikely. I may have to wait a week to see if a Jo Dee Messina offer comes in.

    Trip Report

I'll post it here since it's an on going saga.

Got an offer for one night + JoDee Messina Tickets(dec 4), and one night + Chris Isaak Tickets(dec 10).

Booked the Jodee Messina offer and added Saturday night using players club points. Also had $10 gas free from a previous offer. Hmm, free room, gas and concert.....just needed to pay food and gambling.

    Room

Arriving on Saturday we asked for a room that doesn't connect to another room. Only one available was in a wing. Tried it out...it was the same as the tower rooms except a bit smaller bathroom. Good Enough.

    Concert

Very Good. Not Great. I would've preferred a couple more hits instead of the 2 Christmas songs. I felt a bit slighted by the seats being about one section back from the best. Probably because when I mentioned to our waitress at the coffee shop that we were eating early to avoid the concert crowd, she mentioned that only about 1,000 tickets had been sold.

    Gambling

First night was bad, second, a small win. Got about 6K through the machines which could get some concert offers but not a sure thing. I've already requested MLK weekend off work and was willing to pay cash for the room......but I now see that Kenny Rogers is there on Jan 13th, so I may have to wait it out as the concert offers seem to come late. Maybe I'll book it and cancel if the offer comes through.

    Food

The kids ate McDonalds both days.....They loved it!
Had the buffet at Buffalo Bill's....Didn't get the runs....whew.
Prime Rib at Buffalo Bill's coffee shop....Pretty Good.
T-Bone steak and eggs at Whiskey Pete's coffee shop.....steak was tender but tasteless...needed A-1 sauce to flavor it.
Spaghetti and meat sauce at Whiskey Pete's coffee shop.....excellent.

    Overall

Good enough. It was freezing at night, cold in the daytime. But breathing in that cool mid day air was great. Might pass on December next year though.
While I certainly love a trip to the Orleans or the downtown atmosphere, nothing compares to the wide open desert air.

Returned home to find a primm offer for 2 anytime nights in December, plus $10 cash. I'll have to pass and see what happens in '06.
