Decided to go to Vegas on Jan 1 instead of Jan 2nd. We will be at CP from the 2nd to the 4th. However, we need a room for the 1st. The Rio is comped. We will need two beds. So here are the comped rooms:

    Classic Suite with Mountain View
    Classic Suite with Strip View
    Deluxe Suite with Mountain View
    Deluxe Suite with Strip View
    Luxury Suite with Mountain View
    Luxury Suite with Strip View.

The Web site is terrible for information on these rooms, so I am trusting you guys, as always, to pick the best option!

Another option is Harrah's, BUT that costs $25 excluding the resort fees.

We once used Rio as a "bridge" for one night between the M Resort and Palazzo. It was the night of the R&R marathon so the entire strip was sold-out.

The Luxury Suites are the renovated suites. I would get that if I were staying at Rio. We had one, and while it showed some wear and tear, they are definitely updated compared to the classic and deluxe. For one night it will serve your purposes. If you want it book it, book it now. Prices will only go up (and comp offers disappear) the closer NYE gets.

That said, if you want the "Vegas experience" of being on the strip for NYE without walking, spring for Harrahs. It really isn't a bad walk to Rio from the strip (we did it after my wife ran the marathon), but I couldn't imagine trying to drive to or from the strip on NYE, the place is too packed, even for a cab or uber.

If they are going to Vegas on the 1st, they won't be there for NYE.

We were in a deluxe suite mountain view last week at Rio in the Ipanema tower. It was ok. Maybe they save the nicer rooms for comped people.

I'm picky about showers. I absolutely can NOT stand it when the shower has no pressure.... My goodness!!! Is it really too much to ask for?

If you want to travel, you have to sometimes deal with low pressure showers.

Had the opposite problem in Italy a few months ago. Super high pressure and no shower curtain. End result, water all over the bathroom and epic levels of exfoliation.

Deluxe suites = Non Renovated Ipanema tower
Classic Suites = Non Renovated Masquerade Tower
Luxury Suites = Renovated (Samba Suite) Masquerade Tower

Wife and I have stayed in both towers, and don't really have an opinion..especially for one night!
We're comped + $75 resort credit there this weekend and we got a "Deluxe Suite" but we only use the room to sleep and shower.
