I just discovered ( while playing around with my bconnected app) that I have 2 nights coming from either BOYD downtown property. I’ve never stayed at Fremont and it’s been 6/7 years since Cal. I’ve done MSS in the past ( maybe 4 years ago) and i actually had planned on doing the Cal March 25th. But now Fremont has entered into my post MM sweepstakes and I’m wondering if there’s something that I’d be missing . I originally thought that my only downtown offer was Cal til today. But now, I have 3 options.

    I’m curious. Please advise!

Better rooms, better dining - Cal. Better VP, craps and casual food - MSS. Fremont has a steak house, a small buffet, Tony Roma’s and a snack bar. I’ve enjoyed the snack bar, otherwise not a big fan. Rooms are reportedly small.

the Cal was recently remodeled, and the rooms are nice for downtown.
the Fremont rooms are tiny and dated. basic lodging that is it.
I would go with the Cal west tower. I would even take the east tower over any room at Fremont.
staying at the Fremont can't be beat for convenience, but I am a walker anyway so I don't mind the extra block or two.
also, the Cal includes a fridge, Fremont does not.
if your offer includes a dining credit, you can eat at any of the 3 locations and charge it to your room to use the credit. as long as it is a Boyd's owned mess hall.

Stay at The Cal.. The best Boyd property downtown and close enough to the others if you need a change of pace.

Fremont rooms are small. I'd only stay there if no other option. We had a double room and they were full size beds if that. More like twins. We didnt actually stay there just came with the offer we had so took it in case we wanted to stay the night. Rested for about 30 minutes and headed back out.

I stayed at all three in the past month. In order the Cal (the nicest rooms) ...Main Street ( more mellow)....then Fremont...(the loudest closer to the crazyness)

I would say the Cal is nice but stay away from the area facing the construction zone. However, I have always liked Main Street Station myself but I would not pick the Fremont as it tends to be nearer to the action but louder.

I'm a huge mss fan, always sleep so well there. Rooms are bigger than the Cal as well. However, like all have said, if you want a jack of all trades stay at the Cal. Has enough pros to outweigh all the others.

I don't particularly enjoy playing at the Cal or Fremont so that blurs my opinion, but the food there is incredible. Market St Cafe has an amazing prime rib + salad bar for $10 or so.

To me, buffet at MSS is one of the best available. But there isn't much else to eat there as 777 is always packed when I want to eat.

You really can't go wrong with either of them. Lots of negative comments with the new adjustment to BConnected, but I have been treated better there than anywhere downtown. They've got my business and loyalty.

Another vote for the Cal. Great people and decent rooms.

In the Cal, if you stay in the East Tower, do NOT ask for a room close to the elevators.
I was 6 steps to my room, one of the 4 rooms to the LEFT of the elevator.
The window was facing 1st street/Fremont and the construction zone
Thumping music until 2am, and then construction started at 7am.

Now that the escalators are working, I would go with the West Tower.

I'd stay at the Cal. West Tower, facing West. Have had a room there twice and loved it.
I don't like MSS. It's not the hotel itself, but it's really the rooms that face the freeway. Could not sleep at all. The train is okay, it's just the cars (and motorcycles!) that zoom by that I can't just get used to. Not my idea of a great restful sleep.

At the California, if it weren't for the smoky casino air, lack of beach or really anything natural, and the name of the building, you could swear you are in Hawaii.

Hubby and I used to stay at Freemont, it's getting old and tired, needs some upgrades. Switched to MSS, couldn't be happier. Rooms are big, with fridge, walk in shower. Never had a problem sleeping, breakfast and dinner buffet have it all over Fremont, all kinds of food choices. If you are from Buffalo, you'll appreciate the variety. Not a bad walk to Freemont St, just a couple of minutes. Enjoy !!! GO BILLS !!!!

I always stay at Fremont. Rooms are small and not the best but I like being on Fremont street. Second street grill is very underrated there.

Mss is my favorite casino floor.

Glad you enjoyed 2nd street but let’s sort of low roll it like the recently fallen BHB at MSS :nono: We don’t want to fight the crowds any more than we have to.

I like the CAL as they've been accomodating to me. Others, that I've talked too like their customer service. Of course MSS has a good buffet and restaurants. IMHO
