  1. hi all, hope you all can give me some help. Me and the Mrs. are planning our first trip to sin city. We have spoke to our travel agent and she has given us this list of hotels. Mirage, Paris, Venition or the Luxor. Most are priced as suites. Could you give us some insight on each to make our choice a little easier. All are about the same in price. Thanks in advance

First of all, welcome to the board. We're glad to help, esp. Vegas Virgins. [IMG] I have never stayed at any of these hotels that you have mentioned, but have spent alot of time gambling in all of them. If I could pick, I would go with the Venition. Its very high class and the casino employees have always been very helpful. I guess thats why I would stay there if I could because I am far from beinng cosidered in the high class catergory. You really can't go wronng with anny of them. Good luck! [IMG]

They're all nice, and I would stay in each for different reasons. Of those you listed I have stayed personally at the Mirage and Luxor, but have spent time in all of them. I don't know when you're going, but if it's pool season, Mirage has the best on your list. Their suites are nice, has a good casino, and the location is prime. The Luxor suite was very spacious, nice bathroom, but it's a little south strip. The Venetian I think has the best room, but it's usually too pricey. If all the prices are about the same, then you'll great a very nice room here. The location is also great, being right across from Mirage/Treasure Island. The Paris is also in a great location...which I think is the best thing it has going for it. I've never really liked their casino, but the ambiance is nice. If I had to make a ranking based on everything all together and if the Prices are all RELATIVELY the same, it'd look like this:
    1-Venetian
    2-Mirage
    3-Paris
    4-Luxor

Thanks Billy & Lmadrid for the quick response. All the info on the boards have been quite informative. It will be summer when we go so the pool is quite important. My wife and I are taking our first vacation without the kids and we are both chomping at the bit. We are from NJ, (1 hour from atlantic city) so we are no strangers to big fancy hotels, but, I'm going to guess Vegas is a whole nother animal. Keep the posts coming, we can use all the advice we can get Thanks

I would also check the Aladdin. You should check flights and rooms online, I bet you could beat the agents prices. Keep an eye on Pattiinontarios posts on the deals thread. Shes the best "travel agent" I have seen in a long time.

Well....now that I know you're going in the summer, my advice would be this.... Keep your eyes on the airfare. When you see a rate that's good, buy it. Don't worry about booking your hotel until next year. I think either using a search engine like travelocity or travelaxe or something, as well as keeping your eyes open on deals from the hotel will be the best thing to do. Sometimes if you reserve directly from the hotel you get extras. But, I think you can get a cheaper rate eventually better than a travel agent, and there's no fee if you do it yourself. :D So, if you plan on using the pool I say stay at the Mirage...maybe just head to the Venetian for a nice spa treatment at Canyon Ranch. ;)

i agree its way too early to book for summer. rates usually drop 2-3 months out. cheapovegas.com is another good site for research with links to hotel websites. vegas.com also good. good luck!!!

Since you are going in the3 summer and the pool is important you might want to move Mirage to the top of the list. Personally I liked the Venetian pool but many folks haven't rated it very high. Mirage pool is one of the top in LV.

Also I would recommend that you make sure you get a refundable hotel reservation from your travel agent. The summer is one of the lowest price times of the year and the real deals may not be available until May or June.
