Normally, I play and stay downtown at the Golden Nugget. The in-laws have graciously invited us to stay at the Elara Hilton Grand Vacations, on Las Vegas Blvd. I know they are connected to Planet Ho. I would like input on the best place to play Blackjack and Craps, not only on cost, but rules. My normal layout on the felt is:
Craps - $5 PL with 3,4,5x odds and $12 6&8 (if one is the point, I will pick up either the 5 or 9 for $10). I use a progression courtesy of Sam Grafstein on the PL and a slow press on the Place Bets.
Blackjack - $15 per hand, and will press with a run of wins. Not opposed to betting $25, but would like to progress to that level. Recall, I am used to GN rules (DAS, HS17, Surrender, RSA, Double Any Two Cards). Would like to maintain some facsimile of those rules. Would prefer not to drive down to GN, I am not looking for any comps, just fun and cash.

    Cheers.

cromwell best for all of this... great BJ rules and low minimums, you will only lose RSA. Craps there is 100x odds also, usually at least 1 $10 table

cromwell for craps, TI for bj. at the $25 min level, believe it or not, Aria & mgm rules are also pretty solid.
google vegas blackjack survey and you'll see some thorough listings.
for $25 (6 deck) you should be looking at DAS, RSA, surrender, stand on S17, and double on any 2 cards.

I found $5 craps at NYNY, Park MGM, in the morning. But you never know when strip places will have it that low. I never saw $5 at Cromwell....

    That’s nice of the in-laws!

I liked playing at Cromwell, but last couple of trips I've only seen a $15 table at Cromwell, even in the morning. I may try again on a future trip, but I'm close to writing it off as a place to try and play.

On my last trip I found $5 tables at the Linq in the morning, and around lunch time at Flamingo (single table at the back of the casino, front section of tables were $10). Excalibur is usually a $5 table during the day.

I still try and find a $5 table in the mornings, but $10 tables are my usual now, and they are common enough at various properties to not have to go far to find one. I never play above a $10 table.

Interesting - i know sometimes it is $15 but i am pretty sure it is usually $10 - if not then either Flamingo or Bally's is a guaranteed $10 table right next door. Cromwell is a much better atmosphere and property that those two to gamble in tho...

I pretty much solely play at Cromwell (and some at PH) now and I do see $10 tables in the morning but many are 6:5. All of the $15 tables seem to be 3:2 and there's always at least 1-2 through the day and on weekends. Drink service is fantastic there too, I never leave after a session even remotely sober. #LifeGoals lol

I've got nothing for you for blackjack, but $5 craps will be hard to find on the Strip. $10 will probably be more prevalent and just about everywhere does 3x4x5.

That being said, put me down for Cromwell also. Not so much for the 100X odds that hardly anyone takes advantage of, but I like the dealers there and the casino is small enough that drink service at the tables is pretty quick. :drunk:

I have family with one of those dreaded timeshares at the Elara so I have stayed there as well. It's a nice hotel, especially the one b/r suite, but beware you will do a little walking to get to the strip. Anyways, I usually find during the week and up till early evenings you can find $5 craps at TI, Harrahs, Linq, and definitely at Excalibur and NYNY. Not so sure on Blackjack. FWIW I love playing craps at Caesars and Bellagio. Maybe the higher minimums scare a lot of people away but the crews there are too notch if your budget can handle the bigger swings.

There are exactly ZERO 6:5 tables at Cromwell...

Unfortunately, that's not accurate as I've seen quite a few every time in the last 4 years during all of my 11 trips, including this past December. Now, that may have changed in the last six months, but I doubt it.

To be fair, I pretty much only gamble at the Cromwell now because they have great rules at $25 and many times $15 DD 3:2 tables with excellent drink service, many times with whatever premium drinks I ask for on the main floor. I've had the best time gambling ever my last two trips, where I logged about 30 hours over 4 days lol.

Thanks all, for the replies. Not worried about walking, I could use the exercise, to Las Vegas Blvd. This is a trip where the children are coming along (I am not a fan of taking them to LV, but there are plenty of things for us to do) and I suspect gambling will be pretty limited. Pool time is where it's going to be fun. We are booked in a three-room suite. I have seen a couple of videos, and wonder which room my in-laws will take (should be a no-brainer, but then, they are nice people and may give up the "master"). Have heard good stuff about TI BJ, and might as well play Craps there, as well. Unless PH gives comps to Elara folks, no need to play there, other than the convenience. Keep the advice coming. I thank you all.

When I was at PH in March they had multiple 3:2 tables at $15. Was even $10 during the morning hours. Good rules.

They're bunched together and surrounded by the 6:5 tables. They're up against the Heart Bar, in between the party pit area and the extra tables that they only open at night on busy days/weekends.

I too enjoy playing craps at the Cromwell. Last trip I saw $5 craps at the Casino Royale in the morning and I believe Ellis Island offers $5 craps also. However their table is only open in the evenings.

Craps at Bally's and Blackjack at Paris, but $5 craps table might be a tough one.

Harrah's usually has a good Craps atmosphere and always has $5 or $10 tables.
