There are several Winchell's near me in SoCal. I think there is also one across the street from MB.

That is good to hear. I remember my dad going to the one in our city (long defunct) on Sunday's, and picking up a dozen.

In the Seattle area, Top Pot do-nut is pretty good.

From my hometown I prefer Southern Maid Donuts. They're the only company to get Elvis to do a commercial. http://www.southernmaiddonuts.com/history.html
Also they're known for having hot donuts after 4pm. I've mentioned this to other people and they look at me crazy.

And as for Dunkin, I hate that they don't let you put your own cream into the coffee. A "regular" coffee apparently means half&half with a splash of coffee. I only want enough to barely make the coffee change color.

There's nothing like the old school coffee shop donuts, which are now available mostly at the coffee carts in the morning all around NYC.

They're usually huge and fresh and tasty.

I went to a catholic grade school, beside the church was a bakery with the school behind the church. Smelling that every morning was rough then if the weather was nice and the windows were open it was terrible. Me and my buddies would hunt pop bottles for the deposit so we could get donuts. They closed years age, but I would kill for a couple dozen now. I think they were a dime.

And across the street was New York Lunch, chili dogs or burgers five for a buck. Damn I must be getting old.

There was this diner where I lived called Jerry's. They sold 5 hamburgers for a buck. Each burger came in a bag with pickles, an olive and potato chips. The burgers were hand-made. This was back in the early 70's, my brothers and sisters used to save our pennies and nickles and looked forward to having them, they were so good....

My Grandma made doughnuts from scratch and spoiled me for life! But my partner in crime loves Krispy Kreme. We only get them in Vegas or when they import them for fundraisers as the only Kripsy Kreme in Hawaii is on Maui.
In LV we have to walk from the Fremont to the Plaza every morning to get
