DTG has $1 Blackjack.... That is about the only thing positive I can say about it.
There is just no activity there.

The major problem is that unless you know to look for it then you would never know it was there.
El Cortez can be seen from the end of Freemont St. experience and there is other reasons to keep walking East from under the canopy.
Even California and Main Street Station are easy to see if you walk from the canopy to Plazza.. (you look to cross the street and see there is more casinos)

Downtown Grand either is happy with the business is has, or needs to do some better marketing to get people to go... But before they start the marketing they need to make it more exciting inside. Maybe some live music.. or small give aways every 20 minutes. without changing the energy in the casino anyone they are able to pull in right now is actually doing more harm (as they tell others how sad it is) then good.

Two words: 99 cents Hot Dog and a Beer! Okay, maybe more than two words, but it brought them in back in the aughties.

This is possible, I know the gallery and grand towers were open, I’d assume the casino tower was but perhaps not.

It's eerily empty, especially during the week. If they could figure out how to turn the casino floor into hotel rooms, I'm convinced they would do it.

The 1 dollar bj at the time the rest have downtown has raised traditional limits somewhat shocked me.

I have enjoyed playing those games to ‘drink even’ in the past, but drink less these days so while when younger that game would have excited me, this time it was a mere curiosity.

Moreover, with the sort of exception of Hooters/Oyo , spotting 1 dollar bj anywhere has been a harbinger of impending doom for said property.

I've stayed there a couple of times, and have a room booked over the weekend for my planned trip in February. I suspect they can run a decent business from people like me who will pay for a good value room downtown and will stick a few dollars in a machine to pass the time.

People seem to make the effort of walking over from Fremont Street to use the restaurants (Pizza Rock, Triple George, Hogs and Heifers) but as they are 'across the street' then the casino doesn't see the footfall.

The recent hotel expansion seems to have been an off the shelf generic hotel tower that you would see if any city around the world, so you can tell what their business model is from that.

Never stayed, rarely offered a comp, (think I just got a rare one for 2 nights), a great quiet refuge from weekend Fremont St. mayhem,
and the tables are even open then, IME great craps dealers that deserve bettter, it was about the same amount of dead even when tables ran 7 days a week.

They had momentum for a second until they whacked the good VP.
    (Ahem, MSS)

Last trip saw possibly the most hustling ass hard working but all positive about it bartender I've ever seen, shoutout. ... ? ..

My wife and I walked into the DTG for the first time last week on a weekday to take a look.
Except for the front doors being open and two people sitting at the bar I would have sworn the place was closed.

Went last Monday with a couple friends for lunch at Freedom Beat and it was pretty much dead. A few people playing, but not many. Food at Freedom Beat was decent (not great....don't ever order the mac & cheese) with a coupon. You order with the bartender (who was super nice and helpful) and they bring the food to your table. I just don't know about this place.

To be fair, this has become pretty common post-COVID to mitigate face-to-face interactions... and when I lived in England (mid 2010s) this was how just about every casual restaurant worked. Can't say I like it compared to just ordering at the table... but it's definitely not unique to DTG, just in fairness to them.

I think the point is that for a US-based customer, this is not the sort of service you expect at a casino restaurant where you sit down at a table from even a 3 star joint in Vegas. It's an example of a place that's running as cheaply as possible to the detriment of its ability to attract paying customers.

Yep. That kind of thing is more like a snack bar than a restaurant. A bar or tavern maybe, okay. But not a restaurant.

That Freedom Beat has never been much more than a shit show. service has always been very hit-or-miss.
Overall I like the property and the hotel rooms are fine when they are comped.
there is so much potential but it needs rescue and I don't complain about it being one short block off of Fremont street. that is not an issue for me.

Have you guys eaten at Victory Burger in Circa?
You go up to the counter and place your order.
Then they bring it out to your table.

I think this is going to be come much more normal way to get Pub type food.

Anybody notice what type music is in rotation at the DTG. Just curious as I can’t take the music at 4Q or what ever is playing neat spinal tap levels at the D
