What would you do with a dirty room? (Jacob's Life In Vegas)

Interesting video. I've never stayed in a base room at Aria - I kinda thought a lot of complaints were overblown but the room does look pretty sad. Like a Marriott Courtyard or Hampton Inn that happens to have better soap and an expensive minibar.

I wouldn't care about an errant cloth or even a few stray hairs. I'd just keep the room.

A hundred years ago I stayed at Bellagio and the first time I got up the courage to try the $20 trick at checkin and they "upgraded" me to a corner room, so it was a little bigger and had more windows. When I got to the room housekeeping had not been there and the room was astonishingly dirty. Take out food everywhere (clearly from multiple days) and spilled onto the floor, bottles and cans on every surface, the bathroom was entirely soaked for some reason. I felt so awful for whatever housekeeper was about to end up with it. It is the only time I've gone back to ask for a room switch. They just put me in a standard room elsewhere and I never tried the $20 thing again after that.

I feel like a lot of his videos, and Youtubers in general, take a certain angle because that’s what gets clicks.

You always see certain keywords in titles. A lot of videos on cheapest, and a lot of videos on bad experiences.

It’s kinda like when you drive past a car crash, you can’t help but look.

I went through some old TRs to find housekeeping things left behind, even at Wynn. I don’t think much of it other than posting a photo with a snarky comment.

I’ve also seen hairs and bloodstains, but I just avoid it. It takes a lot for me to complain since I’m pretty lazy and don’t want to trudge back down to the front desk.

I think it’s balanced by the times I make a mess that housekeeping cleans up without complaining about me.

I'm notorious for complaining for hairs in the bathroom/tub but even I wouldnt have gone down to the front desk for most of that. I am surprised though he managed to get a room with blackout curtains that work properly.

However I never ask for a new room unless it's dire. I just ask for housekeeping to attend again. Too lazy to bother moving rooms.

Damage to walls and furniture I don't mind too much, I'd consider it wear and tear and the property is approaching 15 yrs old.

But I would complain about wet carpet, unmade sheets, leftover cleaning supplies, no toiletries and the TV not working.

Only had to complain once. Staying at the luxurious IP in a base room.....room was never cleaned and the toilet even had human waste in it when I first entered. The check in clerk was aghast and
"upgraded" me to the Luv Tub room. Not a fun welcome to vegas moment but they made it right.

"Not a fan of our poor cleaning? Sorry to hear that, how about a complementary Luv Tub!?"

*if* i found the rag, I'd leave it outside the door and probably mention it to a housekeeper I found. *If* I found all the hairs, I'd probably go to the front desk and ask for a the room to be cleaned again with an explanation of why, or if there' going to be a significant delay then I'd probably ask if there's a clean room available. I did stop watching at the 2:48 mark, so not sure if he "found" anything else after that.

The stars and quotes parts are because I have no idea who this guy is so I'm not ruling out the possibility that he did / planted some of this stuff himself to get clicks. But, the towel itself is not going to make me ask for anything, and the hairs would be enough to get me to ask for a reclean
He's a pretty reputable blogger

The name "Luv Tub" would make me afraid it would be dirty, too. Although that kind of dirty might be good, depending on one's inclinations.

I've only had a serious problem with a Vegas room once, at the Luxor (this was in 2010). On my first night, discovered one of the pipes under the bathroom sink was leaking. Called the front desk, and they had maintenance come up and fix it and housekeeping clean up the mess it made. Took a while, but this was pretty late at night.
