For those of you wondering about when we will see "Normal" Vegas, I posted an article in the Covid-19 Information thread today from LA Times and it had some information I thought I'd quote here too.

That is from MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle.

The only thing I needed was not being overly restrictive with masks etc....and of course the casinos bars and restaurants to be open, to at least partial capacity. I have given up and switched vacation destinations as it appears things will be quite strict

Being in a high risk group - age and allergy/respiratory issue - plus not being a risk taker, (except when gambling o_O :evillaugh:) , I won’t return until there is a proven vaccine that is effective and safe, so sadly I won’t be visiting my favorite place until sometime in 2021  assuming all goes well.

A month of operations with no increase in CV19 numbers.
Then, I'll feel that their measures are working.

when I first read the RESTRICTIONS needed to be in place, that set the tone.
Rescheduled both May and June to late October.
Plus, I don't really care for the heat.

I want to be able to mingle, select my machine, eat without barriers, etc...

I won't even go out to restaurants HERE until much later.
So far, out only to grocery store and liquor store!

Won't take much for me. I'm thinking the first week or two after they open might actually be the safest time to go. It'll be empty, and fewer people means less risk.

I just got notice that my furlough has been extended until June 12. I'll be tempted to take a quick trip when they reopen.

Probably going in August regardless of what they would give me. Can't imagine doing much gambling or being in the casino for long periods of time though, but I will walk my beloved strip in the early morning and will take a drive out to Mt. Charleston for a hike to the Raintree. Lots of room service, too.

Vegas is not going anywhere. It will be here when I get ready to go back. For me there is no need to rush back. Unlike years ago, I am not in need of a Vegas fix right now. Other things are occupying my mind.

And I hope you and others will be able to visit soon! The state has been hit hard, just like other states, and people whose jobs and businesses depended on the visitor industry were hit extremely hard. I really feel for them. They are really hurting.

The hardest thing challenging our leaders right now is how to open the state to visitors.

I live here and as much as I love this place there are not enough horses on the planet that will get me back in the casino as long as things are so uncertain. They casinos can post all the cleaning videos they want. How is the cleaning going when nobody is filming? No thanks! Some people wearing mask, some not...hmmmm. Temperature check is for the beans, most cases don't show higher temperature even when infected. Distances, plastic barriers, all kinds of restrictions....I wait till stuff is back to pre-covid.

Trophywife and I go every October. Very doubtful this year. We decided that we will go again when we can fly without a facemask. When the time comes that flights are safe enough to do that, then Vegas will have most likely returned to close enough to normal for our annual debauchery.

IMO, this will keep spreading because of there are persons who disregard public hygiene to the point that they take of their shoes and socks in airplanes and the dirtbag in Chicago that drank the soup out of the food court pot and put the ladle back in the pot. As long as those people roam the earth the only hope is a vaccine.

Wishing the best of health to y'all and your families.

    Such a hard question.

I'd be willing to be wave two of Vegas on reopening... Let the first few awkward weeks go to round one of visitors, then I come out once Vegas has worked out some of the kinks on drink service, social distancing, etc.

I am fine with a slower Vegas, as long as I have enough food options, there is still drink service, and most of the slots are up and running. (versus a creepy ghost town, with only a few operational.)

BUT hubs needs a a more bustly Vegas, and my mom is in her 70's--so I'm much more cautious owith her than myself due to age, so that kind of removes my two Vegas BFF's.

So, loose answer, my criteria is I want Vegas to be open a month or so before I hope out, then I'll see.

But then again, it might be safest in the beginning, with fewer numbers, so who knows.

All I know, is that I officially have the Vegas BITE going on big time now.... even if I shouldn't!

I understand a lot of the points of views on this subject and that we all have our own ideas of when we can return to Las Vegas. I am just curious about one group of people. There are people on here on this thread and other ones that say they won't feel comfortable coming to Vegas, or really going out and doing much of anything until there is a vaccine. While I hope a safe vaccine is ready to go ASAP like everyone else, a vaccine is not guaranteed to ever be created for this virus. Even if one is made, it might be years before it is really ready to go. My question is, what is the plan if it takes 4 years for a vaccine, or 40..or never gets invented? I don't see an end game for the "only when a vaccine is created" people out there. Please don't take this as a snarky question, I am generally curious about the response.

    AGREE WITH THIS

Turning off half the slot machines is crazy. If people want to sit next to each other, then let em. If they do not, that is fine as well. If I want to sit with my wife and play, then let us. If I want to play THAT machine vs the one next to it, then let me.

I think I’ll go when it’s fun again. I doubt that will be the case over the first few weeks and months.

Las Vegas 2019 is what its going to take to get me back...

I say that, but the "I need to go to Vegas ASAP!" in me has me talking out of both sides of my fat mouth.

My October trip is definitely trending in a cancel and wait until things are back to normal direction, but I'm going to wait until late August or Early September to pull the trigger in either way.

So, after all that I'm still up in the air...:blah:

I was thinking pretty much the same thing, which is technically Las Vegas and Nevada generally being at Phase 4 of the reopening process in Nevada (minus clubs, etc.) plus a month of "cushioning" to see how things are working and without increases.

I hope that will be by three months from now, in mid-August. If not, it'll be the next time I can take a good break, which will be from late September through early/mid-October.

Rescheduled April trip to late August & hoping things there have been going well for several weeks before we arrive. I do not mind restrictions - heck I have not been out around people here since this all happened except for a weekly trip to the grocery with mask & wipes in hand....avoid any close contact. As long as I can get a drink, slot machine & bask on a lounger at the pool....I can do the same routine in LV without being fearful. We have lost 5 family members between mid Feb....to mid April.....sitting around worrying & be so terribly depressed has been our way of life lately & I really feel the need to have some enjoyment of my days.....
