I’m not an east coaster but this question made me realize something. My shortest Vegas trip was my first one. I’m sure it was only 3 days or something. After that we were hooked and out trips only got longer. 5 days is about the shortest we do now but our preferred length is longer.

Baltimore area here. The minimum I will do is 3 nights. It’s too long of a trip for any less. I once went for 6 night, wayyyyy too much. Sweet spot is 4 FULL days with 3 nights. Possibly a 4th night.

3 nights on my first trip. However, we arrived around 10:00am Saturday morning and left for the airport around 9:00pm Tuesday night so our first and last day were much more full than I would normally see on my first and last days.

Also 3 nights for my 3rd trip. Arrived around 9:00pm on Monday night and left Thursday morning. That trip felt waaaaay too short. I mean, they all are, but this one was the shortest. It doesn't help that the weather was the worst I've seen in Vegas.

My longest is 6 nights, which I've twice done. I normally do 4 or 5 nights. I prefer at least 5 nights. I'd like to try a 7 or 8 night stay sometime.

Texas is not the East Coast, but I'm chuckling at y'all posting "3 nights" being your shortest trip!
    3-nights is my "normal"!!
Every now & then...as in, 4 or 5 times in 40 years, I extended to 4 nights... and only once did I stay 5 nights.

    My two shortest trips:
Way back in the pre-internet days, when air travel was commonly arranged by "travel agents", I booked a flight home from LA to Houston with a 4 hour lay-over at LAs.
No carry-on, so I was able to walk out, hop in a cab & play at the Stardust for just over 3 hours, before cabbing back in plenty of time to make my connection.

The other one - I was at a convention in San Francisco, with an afternoon/evening to kill... me & a buddy hopped on a flight, gambled at the Mirage for about 6 hours & then flew back to SFO the same night.

Back in the 80s, I had a LOT of 1 and 2 night trips... 2 nights, if I left on a Friday after work...1 night, if I left Saturday morning.

In terms of a dedicated trip (i.e. "not just passing through") it would be 3 nights.

I guess my range has been pretty tight in that respect as the longest trip was 7 days and the vast majority have been 3 to 5.

I'm pretty happy with 3 to 5 nights but I'm when I'm a retired empty nester we will definitely take a crack at longer stays.

My first trip with friends was 4 days. But that was enough under those circumstances.

Then next family trip was 6 days. Now we (family) just couple Vegas with other West coast destinations i.e. California, Grand Canyon...But even for the Vegas portion alone has to be at least 6 days.

My shortest LV trip was playing the machines while changing planes at McCarran once.

Saturday morning to Sunday night red eye on Superbowl weekend. Decided last minute go solo. Grabbed 2 hours of sleep after a Friday night poker game. Drove 2 hours to the airport in Detroit for a 6am flight. Left Vegas at 11:59pm on Sunday night. Landed right on time to drive an hour and a half to work.

Honestly, for years we did the 7-8 night trips once or twice a year. I only have 2 weeks of vacation time per year. We started doing a 7-day cruise every year in 2013 so I only have one week remaining after that. We decided to try a Friday after work to Sunday night red eye to see how it went. It's a totally different experience, but we do them quite frequently now. On those longer trips, we would allow ourselves to adjust to the time zone and kind of pace ourselves. We decided before the first weekend trip that we had to adjust the strategy. We hit it hard as soon as we get to the airport, continue on the flight and usually have a stocked limo pick us up on arrival. Usually start slowing down around 3 or 4 in the afternoon on Sunday.

The short trips are definitely a different experience. We don't have much time for shows or pool time. But our favorite part of the trip is the random strip walk anyway. Casino hopping, strip walking, drinking and people watching pretty much takes up the entire visit. Toss in a quick stop for a cigar at Rhumbar and I'm good! I would prefer a longer trip, but if it means that I don't go until next year, I'll do the weekend trips.

2009 for about 9 hours... I was on a school sponsored trip when I was in college and we convinced the professor we should stay there for a night about halfway through the trip. You know? Get a cheap room, a good buffet, a real shower, and a comfortable bed for the night since we had spent the last 10 camping at various parks in the Southwest region. We met up with the professor around 11 and he was convinced we were all going to go to jail that night or be broke for the rest of the trip if we remained in town. We were ordered to get our bags and we would stay outside of town for the night. Well, we ended up in Pahrump... which wasn't any better of a place for that crew lol. As punishment, we were forced to march out to the middle of Death Valley the next day and I was sure that it would be my last on this earth.

When I lived in New England, my shortest trip was three full days, plus travel days. Flight arrived on a Tuesday around lunch time and left on Saturday afternoon. No direct flights from that airport, so it was a lot of traveling for just a few days, in my opinion.

Shortest one ever is about to happen end of this month, beating that one by half a day or so. Flight leaves on a Thursday at 8pm, followed by three full days, then fly back Monday afternoon/evening. Both direct flights this time, though.

Funny how times change. First trip I wasn't married, no kids, 10 years younger, and traveling with a buddy on his first trip to Las Vegas. This time I'm married, traveling with my wife for our anniversary, first time away from our toddler, and 10 years older. It probably won't be exactly the same kind of trip...LOL
