Black Oak Arkansas/Black Sabbath in 71 or 72.I was 14 with friends about the same age..Convention Hall in Asbury Park,NJ.First time I smelled/smoked the evil weed at the time...Most weird one was Kiss by accident as the Amazing BOC (BlueOyterCult) had to cancel a show with 10cc in Asbury Park also in 1974.
The new lineup was Truth, ,Renaissance (great!) and Kiss.
Setting was in a warehouse and no seating.everybody wet from the rain waiting to get in,stoned etc.No one knew what or who Kiss was and when they came on it was a WTF?...I'm close enough to the stage to see the fireball when he spits it out and I'm done..
Bought their first album shortly after but that was that.

There was a promoter in the Chicago area by the name of Dex Card. He did a promotional tour in the summers in the early 70's that would feature 3 or so bands. They stopped at our high school a couple of those summers and I got the chance to see groups like Styx, REO Speedwagon, Siegel-Schwall (blues band), Black Oak Arkansas and a few others. My first stadium type show was George Harrison at the old Chicago Stadium, 72 or 73.

Huey Lewis and the News, summer of '84 in Green Bay. I was 13.

I saw Huey and company again in the summer of '87 at Alpine Valley.

It would be another 27 years, IIRC, before I'd see my third HLatN concert. That one at Mystic Lake Casino in MN.

Alice Cooper was my second concert ever...the 'Billion Dollar Babies' tour (1973, I think).
I still think "Killer" was one of the best rock albums of the early 70s.

My first concert was Alice Cooper, probably around 1976. I had no idea who he was or what he sang but some friends were going, so sure, I bought a ticket. I was about 15 and thought it was kind of a creepy concert, lol. I've seen him a couple of times after that now that I know what his music is.

Saw them during that North American tour too but on September 7, 1964 at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto. I was 13 and saw absolutely nothing because everyone was standing (and I was short) and heard nothing because everyone was screaming! But I can at least say that I was there!
Probably the first concert where I could actually see and hear the band was a couple of years later at the O'Keefe Centre in Toronto where I saw Jefferson Airplane. Now THAT was cool with a massive 60's-style oily/swirly special effects "lightshow" behind the band. :nworthy:

If you both like Three Dog Night, you might find this story from the Moth interesting (For those not familiar, the Moth is a storytelling podcast- all true stories told live with no notes)
