Same here. There's nothing worse than the freelance blackjack instructor. Why not just play? If I recall correctly, blackjack is not a team sport.

I'm very surprised (impressed!) that this garnered so many responses, and most of them very good! :)

There are many things mentioned that I DO get, as far as others doing them but not for me. I do understand things like trendy clubs and bottle service for those who like them. I even understand (if I really stretch things) bringing kids to Las Vegas (been there, done that, learned the hard way myself). I even get the "art on a plate" absentee celebrity chef places for those who love them. Food is soooooo subjective. I don't like HHAGG for example after two very so-so meals, but some rave about it. Others put down Battista's, but I've never had a bad meal there. (I do admit it's not on my must-do list for each visit!).

A few more things I don't get ... 6:5 blackjack! I so seldom play table games anymore that I did not think of it on the first round. Ditto with Keno! It's such a house-biased game! However, some people love it (why??????)! ("The keno hall is closed today, please place your money directly in the dumpster!")

And then there's the mini bar! Yeah, you can call me cheap if you like! (Although I grudgingly admit using one in Hawaii. {blush})

The best quote of the thread has to be:

There are a number of things which annoy me which unfortunately I can understand, like the gaggle of people who STOP right at the top or bottom of an escalator or the chatty Cathy next to me who insists on rubbing the screen, slapping the buttons and talking to the machine.

Oh well, I guess if all of us liked the same exact things, this world would be an incredibly boring place! :)

Yes! Or in front of the elevators when they're not getting on, or in the middle of a hallway or walkway in a busy casino. Yikes. I'm always thinking "That's exactly where I'd stop to have a confab." Jeez.

I'll add to that the endless picture takers who also completely block the walkway and then are offended if you don't time your passage just right to avoid their click-absolutely the WORST in the Bellagio conservatory-you can't get through there anymore. click, click, click. I don't get selfie sticks. Really?

Grumpy old man, but I'm smiling.........

My lovely and talented wife does not get the young women heading (tottering precariously) to the clubs in yard high heels they obviously can't walk in. No disapproval there, just amazement.

I loved how personally biased all of these "don't gets" are. . .a true show of diversity!

That being said, I'm taking an equally biased binary approach. . .

I don't get (young) people who go to bed before 2-3am. I hate mornings and will gladly sleep through the entire thing. 3-4pm is when the ideal day in Vegas starts for me (unless I have a pool party to get to).
I do get people who aren't into the nightlife sleeping at normal times.

I don't get people who get unruly because they drink too much/can't control themselves when drunk (this obviously isn't only in Vegas.
I do get drinking and making stupid, harmless decisions in the name of fun.

I don't get people who get angry when they lose while gambling. It's frustrating sometimes, I get it. That's why. . .
I do get walking away if gambling ever begins to become emotional.

I don't get young families on the Strip or on Fremont.
I do get young families at Disney.

I don't get room campers who spend many waking hours in the room.
I do get pre-gaming/pre-loading in the room with your friends.

I don't get arriving late at night. I feel like I wasted a whole day en route (Not applicable for international travelers).
I do get taking red-eyes back home.

I don't get the hate of fast food.
I do get McDonalds/Denny's/Pizza. OFTEN :feedme:

I agree with Breeze about the kids in heat also ,what the hell posesses people to lock kids in cars in summer heat while they go shopping .. Otherwise I dont care what people do as long as they leave me alone.

Ok, one thing I really don't get is why those happy-snappers ALWAYS pose and take the shot ACROSS the flow of traffic! I would think that anyone would simply realize it's better to take it with the flow of traffic, or have the subject pose to the side well outside the flow of traffic.

Then there are those who think they are being courteous and hold out their arms to stop the flow of traffic so the so-called photographer can take the shot across the traffic path! Jeesh! :(

I "get it", the stick part that is, because it takes a better shot than you can get just holding out your hand for a kind of hail-mary shot.

What I don't get are why some have to be so {expletive}-ing narcissistic that they have to take a {expletive}-ing selfie every two minutes!

Come to think of it, I really don't think we're seeing as many selfie sticks as we did when they were first the oh-so-trendy rage du jour.

Johnny, I have to admit that can be quite entertaining...LOL Tell her the real entertainment though is getting up early for coffee and seeing the walk of shame and they're carrying those same heels because they're over trying to walk in them....:evillaugh:

Didn't read entire thread, so forgive me if this is a repetition:

It's Vegas. Nobody needs to get what another person does there.

Nothing better than seeing the first signs of sunlight creep into the casino after an all-night craps or pai gow session! Vegas in the morning is indeed glorious!

A potentially devastating misinterpretation lies around every corner--no pun intended.

I've often felt that a fair and reasonable law would be that, whenever you see someone using a selfie stick, you are allowed to take said stick and beat the user with it.

Too funny about the Vegas girl walk! My favorite memory was the morning I watched the young man in a suit crawling on the floor at Paris while his friend walked beside him trying to convince him that he could stand up!
I love this thread, lots of fun reading.

    Selfies?!?

So some people can go online and write expansive TRs and chatter on incessantly about their Vegas exploits but others can't memorialize their experiences in photos and vids? I'm confused.

(Now this Pokemon thing, don't get me going on that!)

Ditto on this. I may not play "by the book" but I play the same way all the time. They never complain when you take a card that would have busted them.
"Hey that's my ten I should have not won. I should have busted" Never heard that being said at a Blackjack table
