We had the new house professionally landscaped 2.5 years ago. This thing has started growing in the front yard and we're not sure if it is a weed, or a planting.

    I'm stumped.
If it's a weed it looks way better than anything intentionally planted on my acreage. :faint:

Let it grow, if it survives the winter, it's a plant.

    Some kind of marigold.

Or Cannabis. Find a local skateboarder to be sure.

It looks woody at the bottom. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say planting.

I was looking at the white flowered thing. I think @Richard Alpert was, too.

Dude, the "white flowered thing" is a gorgeous hydrangea ;-)

I think the other item is a weed. But then, you know, a weed is just a plant where you don't want it, so....

I call it a snowball bush. we have one in the back along the field stone wall. not a weed, but short of digging it up you can't kill it.

No, I thought smerrian & Richard Alpert were.

Snowball bush is viburnum, not a hydrangea, and where we live, it blooms MUCH earlier. Viburnum blooms in April and hydrangea typically in the summer. Not all varieties the same, of course. My PG hydrangea blooms late - September sometimes. So if it's blooming now, I would not guess it's viburnum/snowball bush.

I think it might possibly be Fine Line Buckthorn. It's supposedly a noninvasive ornamental bush or small tree.

I like it. Even if it is a weed and it looks nice, just go with it.

Look at the wildflowers in the desert, they are technically weeds.

I am such a horrible anti green thumb that i thought I would just get a weed out of my yard and pot it and could just leave it unattended. weel, you know how that went, killed it in a week.

Bought some cactus and was pretty happy with how they looked for about 6 months, Until i realized that they had been dead for about 4 of those months and it was just the shell of the cactus left.

If it isn't a hydrangea it likely is a snowball bush (common snowball viburnum).

I gotta admit I also first looked at the hydrangeas and said "wow, if that's a weed that's a darn beautiful one....) :p

It looks like a small tree to me, especially with the bark covered thicker trunks. I'd absolutely it it grow and see what happens! (and share the pics with us!)

PS I think @AlwaysUpForFun is on the right path with the Fine Line Buckthorn guess, looks identical to those pics!
