As far as pictures I think it was only done for publicity shots. Before the internet was big, casinos actually had newsletters and such that they would send out to their clients. It was all just for marketing purposes. I had my picture taken with a big posterboard check at slots a fun. They use to have a board outside that they posted pics on of any handpay. I still have the check rolled up in my closet. My win was only for $1350 but they took a pic and gave me the big check poster. Of course I was paid in cash for a win that size. No idea where the cash/real check line is for wins.

Not sure which wins they decide to make a big deal over. I have seen many casinos post pictures of people winning as low as $1,200.

Wonder how many people are asked to do a picture and decline?

I have had 20-30 handpays in the past year from $1,200 to $17,000

Nobody ever asked me to do a picture.

I only recently found out that Boyd downtown has a quarterly newsletter with all the smiling winner's pictures. Hawaiians are lucky:evillaugh
You have to sign up for it at the Player's Club booth.

a couple weeks ago at Maryland Live, they pulled out "the big check" for a winner of $100,000 (max bet on a $25 Double Gold slot). Not sure what happened after the picture was taken, besides the old lady buying everyone drinks and handing out benjamins to complete strangers, so I heard. And this is exactly why I wouldn't want the fanfare. Any time I get a win as small as $1,000, it brings out the beggars swiftly.:grrr: They always get $0 of my cash, but I've seen others give in. :poke:

I had a friend a few months ago get 4OAK while playing Mississippi Stud for $4k at Coushatta in LA. They paid her out, but later that night we were sitting at a Pai Gow table and above it was a TV showing promotions and the like. Included was pics of past winners holding big checks, so my friend asked why she didn't get one taken. The pit boss made a call and asked if she wanted to go back and have one taken. She did and they did. Moral of the story is, just ask. I haven't been back to see if she made the TV promotion, though.

ME! I won over $15K in FreePlay at The Beau in Biloxi. I was offered a Red Leather Jacket in exchange for them using my physical likeness as they see fit.
There was no way I was going to do that! I didn't want to see my mug on their Marquee out front or in their Promotions, magazines, videos etc... NO Way!
