We have tickets for january 4. Yesterday I was checking the Ticketmaster app and the word canceled was on top of the ticket. Then I checked the web site and all dates were canceled. Today for my surprise the tickets were back and also the other dates, but I notice the title of the show changed to "Penn & Friends: Penn Jillette, Mac King, and Piff The Magic Dragon". Does anyone have any info on this?

There was a rumor some time ago that P&T had split, but they obviously did not.

There was also chit-chat that Teller was hospitalized recently, and that probably has something to do with it.

The Ticketmaster link from the Rio website shows Penn and Friends through January 4, then a break until February 3. It's listed as Penn & Teller from that point on. I checked out their twitter feeds and it appears Teller had back surgery on October 25 but he was performing in November. Sounds like some time off for some reason or another.

Penn and Teller was suppose to be dark in January because they have shows in Australia in January 2020. But according to the Sydney Opera house, that tour has now been cancelled due to Teller needing urgent back surgery. Perhaps his October surgery did not fix it.

From the Sydney Opera House website:
"Penn & Teller will not proceed in January

We regretfully announce that the national tour of Penn & Teller will not proceed in January. Teller will undergo urgent surgery for a back injury, which will preclude international travel for a number of weeks post-operation."

Jeebus Teller is 71! I wish him well, had no idea he was that old - I thought Penn was the older one and he's 64.

Thanks for the answers. I hope he's ok. I just received this message from Ticketmaster:

    "Hi live event fan,

This message is being sent on behalf of Penn and Teller Theater at Rio Las Vegas.

    Penn and Teller
Penn and Teller Theater at Rio Las Vegas

Teller of Penn & Teller will not be performing at your event. Penn will still be performing.

December 21st and December 22nd will now be 'Penn & Friends: Penn Jillette, Mac King, and Matt Donnelly"

December 23rd through December 30th will now be "Penn & Friends: Penn Jillette, Mac King and Piff The Magic Dragon"

January 1st through January 4th will now be "Penn & Friends: Penn Jillette, Mac King and Piff The Magic Dragon"

Your tickets are still good - see you there!

    Thanks for being a fan!

Seconded. I actually really would love to see that. Piff is probably my favorite performer in Vegas right now. Though I wonder how this is going to impact his solo show.

As an aside, I honestly did not realize that Teller was 71. I was floored to find out that Penn was in his 60s (he was on the Joe Rogan podcast recently). These guys are just not visibly aging somehow.

I saw them from the front row in June in the dead center seats so Penn was standing just a few feet in front of me a good bit of the show, and I really conciously did notice during the show that he is finally looking older. Not like a rickety old man or anything, but could really tell in his face up close and in person.

As for the lineup change, teller is the genius behind them, or at least so says Penn, but Penn is the skill man. I'd love to see the alternate lineup and will definitely see if I can swing tickets for it next week if I make it, especially if I can get in a night with Piff, who I havent seen live yet.

To be fair, that is probably Penn being humble. I'd say they're both equal geniuses, and while I can't say for sure or speak for them, they're both pretty fantastic and really smart guys. I'm a grown-up who loves magic, and I never want to know how the trick works.

    Thankfully it's not laryngitis! :faint:

    Wishing Teller a speedy recovery!
