what happened to light nightclub?

It seems that a few years ago Light nightclub was a hotspot based on what I was reading online. Now it seems to have dropped off of the radar and doesn't even register. What happened?

 

Light was a very popular nightclub at the Bellagio, which had a long and prosperous run. The space is still a nightclub, now called The Bank.

 

Actually this statement is only partially true. You are referring to the original Light nightclub at Bellagio, which did indeed close and become "The Bank" years ago. However, the "Light" name and brand was resurrected a few years ago and the current Light club is located at Mandalay Bay and is still going strong:

The current iteration of Light has gone downhill at MB the last few years. It was awesome when they had the cirque like performers but now it's just an oversized club.

 

Yeah after Cirque ended their affiliation, there wasn't any real draw to the place.

 

Interesting I did see the "Light Nightclub" sign @ Mandalay Bay as I was driving down the strip last weekend. However, I'm not sure how strong it still is because I don't think anyone here typically mentions it as a top 3 or top 5 club.

Well, by "going strong" I didn't mean it was a top Vegas club lol...I just meant that it was still around and in business.

 

For reference, this is how the club used to be:

Performers in character were everywhere and did an awesome show. Fast Forward to today, it's a large space, with lights and loud music. The vibe isn't what it used to be.

 

Jack Colton lists it as a top 3 club on Thursday night.

 

I'm 49 and would hit that club all night. The old geezer still likes that kind of vibe

I was last there in August and it was nowhere near what it was. In the past they had actors hanging out at the entrance and everywhere all over the club but now it's just a large space with loud music and lights.

 

As some people noted the Cirque Group ending was the start of the downfall. Also the Hakkasan Group left at the same time as they had an operations agreement with Cirque and not Mandalay Bay to manage the club.

Now add to it location. Not the best as a majority of people stay on the strip, plus add all of the club options there and no real wow factor any longer at Light....
