I am looking for information on rooms, VP, restaurants, transportation to and from (airport and back) and anything else you can add. We are just looking to explore some places we haven’t been to before. Thanks in advance!
If you don't have car (since you asked transportation ), I would not suggest you staying there. Not much going on nearby and itself is not a mega resort like its sister properties Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch.
Typical Station property - not as nice as RR or GVR but above Boulder Station. Good oyster bar, good steak house, good italian place and good cafe/diner. Kids Quest is there if you have family. Good VP. As JeJas says - skip it if you don't have a car, but otherwise a pleasant place. Rooms are fine, but plain. Think Holiday Inn. You will enjoy it if you go!
Just to add a few things, we would probably only stay two nights and be willing to Uber from the airport to get there. I understand that it doesn’t really compare to RR and GVR but it’s a little more affordable for us. As far as VP goes, I’m a ddb player. Is ddb decent? Thanks @JeJas and @roycpa!
Unfortunately, it has been driven downhill like all station casinos. Coporate has gotten so greedy post covid. Points are more or less worthless. Better though on machines, a joke for table game players. I think it is 3rd best station though after Green Valley and RR for many things
I spent 3 nights there without a car. I took the bus. I went in December and it was absolutely freezing outside. There is a walkway from the casino to the hotel and the wind was shaking the windows as I walked through it. I needed to go outside to take the bus anywhere away from the hotel but it was so cold I didn't want to. It is sometimes difficult to envision what the winter weather feels like as you walk through an open parking lot off Strip until you are actually there. So basically I trapped myself there. I could not win anything, I also could not even hold my own so every dollar I put in a machine was gone without me getting much play. I couldn't make myself leave because freezing. So my stay was miserable. Now if i had been on a winning streak, I would be typing out how wonderful the property is and I would have likely stayed again. Side note, this was a three week trip for me so those three days were just a blip for me. If this had been a short trip, I never would have stayed that far away.
Love the Oyster Bar. As good as Palace Station Oyster Bar but without the wait. They have plenty of tables to go along with a good sized bar.
The casino has a Barcelona Gaudi theme which I think is pretty nice. The bowling alley is very modern and a nice place to kill an hour or two.
Used to stay at Sunset all the time. It was also my local casino when I lived there, so I’d go 3x a week to pick up my gifts, freeplay, and food. And play slots. I’d say it has more the feel of a slightly brighter GVR. Same with the rooms, which are comfortable. Oyster Bar and Sonoma Cellar are excellent. Center bar is fun. Buffet was great. Movie theater is passable and good if you don’t want to see a movie with a crowd. Across the way is a Ben & Jerry’s, which participates in the annual free scoop day. Used to have a Hooters inside next to the original poker room. I took their free poker dealer class. But yeah, as others have mentioned, if you Uber there, you may feel a bit isolated. And points are crap for tourists.
I've only been there late at night when everything was closed. However, I absolutely LOVED the theming and thought the blackjack rules were pretty good. If it was closer to the areas I like to be in, I'd stay there.
