Hub and I have just updated our mobile devices and want to do another trip report when we visit Cosmo in a few days. We'll be trying new (to us) restaurants, seeing a cheesy Vegas show (Popovich Pet Circus at The V Theater/Miracle Mile Shops. We love animals. Don't ask...) and hitting up the Wynn Parasol Up/Down Bar to see our favorite CWs and enjoy a few craft cocktails.
    But I digress...

What is it, dear reader, that YOU like to read about and see in a Vegas Trip report?
I know we aren't all strip people on this board so I'm hoping to make it entertaining as well as informative.

***Edited to add: Hopefully LOTS of WINNING!
We do lots of slots and hub likes the occasional Video Poker and blackjack sessions. Sometimes I get lucky at roulette.
Let me know your thoughts? Thanks.:popcorn:

The only trip reports I don't bother with are the ones that are all gambling and nothing else. Otherwise I love trip reports. I haven't read any in too long. You're reminding me to go back to that. Used to be an every day thing for me.

I like some pics. No need to write a novel either, we get it. Also no need to talk about the airport or ride to and from unless it is something odd that happened. an uneventful cab ride and plane ride are just boring to read about.

These are all photo preferences - I guess I'm getting dumber as I age and don't want to visualize as much. Anyway, I like to see...

    Cocktails
    Menus (drinks especially)
Lighting & architecture that is neat
    Neon
    Cacti and palm trees
    Graffiti oddly enough
People at bus stops & people of Vegas in general,(minus banana hammock guys)
Slot wins no matter how small
    Nightime in Vegas
Nice rooms, even not so nice rooms

Not really into food shots, desserts are ok :p

Entire trip at my favorite hotel!

I thought of something else I don't like. Get your tomatoes ready to throw at me. I don't like it when guys talk about women in really derogatory ways.

There was one guy that I absolutely lived for his trip reports. And I guess he started hanging around with the wrong guys and he started really talking trash about women. Buddy, I know for a fact you're at the older end of middle aged, not in shape, missin' hair, just not that handsome...and you're talking about every female that crosses your path on a rating scale of 1 to 10. Are you serious? I stopped reading his reports. Like I've seen pics of the guy, he's a 4 on a good day. (see what I did there?) And another guy that was always calling his wife a prostitute.

I'm perfectly OK with people talking about stuff that's none of my business (infidelity, drugs, prostitution, strip clubs, losing money you can't afford to lose etc) not my circus not my monkeys. But, that turned me off.

Also, snobbery. It rubs me the wrong way. So, if I get the vibe of those 2 things. I just stop reading.

The Pics: Well, all of them, really. But I especially enjoy food porn, big wins, room/view pics, and miscellany (the stuff that makes YOUR trip unique).

The Text: Reviews of a restaurant/bar/show/hotel/etc., funny/annoying/crazy shit that happened...and a reasonably pithy writing style (I have the attention span of a millennial).

Ultimately, I appreciate every TR. I've thought about doing one umpteen times but wasn't up for the work involved. I'm certainly looking forward to yours, @ardee!

    Thanks for your input, guys.
Our style is to take lots of pics, find a theme to keep
us going and share the fun.
Hopefully it will be enjoyable for most of us. :p

Thanks for asking.....have a fun and profitable trip. Suspect you will get a lot of different responses to this one :):):)

As the old saying goes......a picture is worth a thousand words, I enjoy pictures of the things that remind me of Vegas, casino interiors, exteriors, room and room views, shots of the Strip or locals places, downtown.....no matter.

There are places that I haven't stayed so always nice to see places/rooms where the photos aren't from the hotel website.

Not being a foodie, a picture of a plate of food that doesn't have neon in the background is just a plate of food......no offense to the foodie folks. I'm a weirdo though as I love pictures of the sports Books, which can be pretty boring stuff.

In regards to a narrative, it's all about the adventures and shenanigans for me, travel partner meltdowns, wild drunken late nights, big wins and bad beats, the stories of random weirdness that only happen in LasVegas.

All that being said I enjoy them all, and will never have a bad thing to say about any trip report as mine are not so bueno, kind of a glass house and stones sort of thing.

    Good luck.....winnabunchabucks

There are some TR's that are written very well. I don't like TR's that are only text. I'd prefer a nice mix of pictures with commentary. Just pictures are great too, but maybe with a description would be nice to be sure we know what we're looking at.

I don't like heavy gambling pictures or pictures of the VP or slot screen on how much was won. Great. I get it.

I do like food porn, however. I also like pics of the room as well as pics of general Vegas architecture, etc.

I love trip reports where the person wears his heart on his sleeve. Writing about his feelings, his likes, dislikes, what brought him joy, sadness, anger, or compassion.

Describing his experiences and reactions to those experiences. How he feels about the changes, or lack of.

And pictures. Don't just post a gazillion of them one after another. Post pics and follow up with comments on why you want to share it. If it's a pic of a win describe how it happened and how you reacted.

Bring us into your world. Make us feel like we are right there with you. Every card you take. Every throw of the dice. Every tap on the slot button. Every beer or drink you gulp down. Every slice of that decadent rib-eye that costs $150 for 8 ozs.

I've read outstanding and wonderful trip reports and there wasn't one iota of pics. Just words. But those words performed it's magic and I was transformed temporarily into their world.

Just write from your heart. It will come out GREAT!

I enjoy all of your posts Ardee! I think the biggie is to write what YOU enjoy writing. You'll never please everyone, and the point of a trip report is getting to see Vegas through their eyes....not having someone write a trip report for what they think we'll like.

Plus, Vegas should be fun, not a burden, just my two cents. I personally love food porn, others don't. Some love a granular report, others like major touch points.

Heck, I even get a kick over some of the "I'm going to write an epic trip report" but then they go dark after landing. At least you know they're probably having fun!

To me, it's like food when you travel internationally. Anytime someone tries to cook for someone else's taste, it can be bad, and they lose the heart of the dish. If they stick to their best dishes? The food is great and those with similar taste will enjoy it, and those with different tastes will gravitate to a different dish.

Bottomline, have a blast, write what you feel like writing....and just ENJOY the magic of Vegas!!!!! :D

Details about the room features, room type and number, doesn't have to have pics but pics help
Gambling details like minimums at various times of day if you're a table player
What changed about that hotel/casino since the last time you stayed there
Slot porn and stories about odd gambling characters or situations
Anything that decidedly doesn't match up with info a hotel/casino or players club has on their website
I like a few pics from when people are just out walking around, but if I see that huge Chinese guy from the Bellagio Conservatory one more time, I'm gonna kill someone.
