Hi everyone..has anyone stayed at the Westin before? If so, what is it like? How far of a drive is it when going back to the strip? I am debating of instead of the Delano maybe trying something new, and try the Westin for a little change..thanks!

The Westin is currently doing renovations so ask for a room far away from the noise if you go. The rooms are a bit worn but they are updating them as we speak. They have two pools and one has a water slide that is great, especially for the kids. The property is beautiful right on the lake. There is really not much to do out there but it certainly is more quiet and laid back than the strip. It is a long way from the strip and by taking the 215 expressway would still take 30-35 minutes if not in rush hour to reach the Mandalay Bay area.

If you are going to be spending a lot of time on the strip I would recommend Delano. The rooms are very nice and the pool is great. The only advantage of staying in Lake Las Vegas is for quiet but you should not have any issues at the Delano.

Riding in a cab/uber or driving... either way, that is not Vegas to us. But for some.. I guess so.

Having stayed out there, I would not recommend it if you are wanting to go to the strip. It is a haul just traveling back and forth. Perhaps the best thing about staying out there was the fact that Fiesta Henderson Casino was on the way off the 215/515

Thanks all! I was just thinking about a couple days away from the strip to try something different and random. After a couple of days, I would be back on the strip for another week...not sure I will do it as I always debate these things... thanks for your replies!

Its not like The Strip at all - out here the resort fee actually covers your parking

Lake Las Vegas is a non-gambling resort-vacation getaway. The golf is great, the spa does what it needs to do, the setting is stunning and the pools as noted are great. Marssa remains one of our fave Vegas restaurants. We're not averse to driving around but would tend to keep things to LLV proper or that end of Henderson during our many stays out there over the years. If you can split there and the Strip -- and you know the reality of going out there in advance -- why not? Or if you want more of that resort-type experience but closer in, with gambling, with a better spa and more diverse eats, and with commendable golf all around, check out the JW Marriott.
