We went in 2011 and stayed elsewhere, but this is a peek at my trip report for the steakhouse at the Rainbow. Enjoy!

I highly recommend venturing over to the Rainbow steakhouse - we had Gus as our server and he was top-notch, as was the food. Steaks were perfect, salads came with chilled salad forks, and they had a decent wine list with affordable choices. We had a 'buy one get one free' coupon, which made it VERY affordable; however, even at the menu prices, we would all return.

I have been to Wendover twice, stayed at Golden Nugget and Montego Bay. Nugget is old and had a long walk to room. Hotel is very large.

Montego bay was very Smokey for a new casino. really liked the rooms, staff very good. rooms in a tower so easy access to casino. Neat walkway between Montego Bay and Golden Nugget. Plexiglas enclosed and elevated over main road.

Took shuttle to different casinos and liked the casino at Rainbow the best. We both won money, me at blackjack and the wife at VP. Wendover is a blackjack players paradise.

Rainbow rooms appear to very spread out, maybe two levels with long hallways. Did not stay there so no solid info on rooms.

It has been three or four years since we where there and they still send us invites for free trips. Wife does not what to go back because other than gambling there is nothing else there.

    Ab-so-fucking-lutely.
I'd rather go to Reno a MILLION time than ever go to West Wendover again....

Recently they did a complete renovation of the Montego Bay casino. That’s the one on the Utah / Nevada border which is the white one on the east end of town. It’s my personal favorite cuz the rooms are IMO nicer and larger than the Peppermill or Rainbow. I’d avoid the Nugget and Red Garter totally unless you want to play live keno for the nugget is the only place that has it. Like the others said, not much else to do besides gambling unless it’s the weekend for the Peppermill has a great concert hall that has lots of stars (mainly country western) with a few exceptions with the likes of Terry Fator, Beach Boys, Temptations, and comedians like Bill Envall. It seats around a thousand people. West Wendover is my place to go when I’m not in Vegas!

I haven’t been able to figure that out. Be sure to swipe your card at one of the kiosks before playing each day, though. They offer comp multipliers most days, but you have to swipe first.

Hopefully the weather will be nice.

Hopefully the weather will be nice.

Just thought I would check back in on the bartop payouts at the Garter. The quarter level is a progressive game so unfortunately it is not 8/5 on bonus poker, but it is at the dollar level. Sorry I can't be of more help on the rainbow but I haven't stepped in that place in years.

I definitely need to make a trip here after reading some of these comments. Surely beats Jackpot, NV.

Just got back. So dead. Like a ghost town. Even for a Tuesday. Seems the 9/6 JOB at the Garter is now 9/5 at .25. Did find one 9/6 at the Peppermill. But the BJ is awesome compared to Vegas.

Yeah Cactus Pete's is laudable if you are in the mood, but it's not much.
