    My Trip Report

Me and my wife just returned from Paris (Feb 21-23). It was a short trip as we got in late Friday night and left early Sunday morning but it was fun nonetheless.

    Hotel:

This was the first time to Paris and I would have to say that it is by far the nicest hotel we have actually stayed in (much better than Aladdin and NY NY). The service was good and the overall atmosphere was fun yet elegant.

    Room:

When we arrived they informed us that there were no non-smoking rooms available and since my wife is somewhat affected by cigarette smoke we agreed to upgrade to a suite for $50 more a night. It was definitely worth it. We stayed in the Le Mans suite and the room was emaculate. It included a two person jacuzzi tub and also had a mini bar sink with refrigerator. The room was very large but we had a back side view of the hotel and Aladdin.

    Dining:

We ate at the Eiffel Tower restaurant and had a great view of the Bellagio fountains. This was a once in a lifetime meal for us so we didn't care about the costs too much (an $18 glass of house champagne is a little ridiculous though). Our total bill came to $150 which included desert and tip. Great food, great service, great view. A++

    Transportion:

We rented a car which allowed us to go to Primm to the large indoor outlet mall (my wife loves it) and we also went up and down the strip. The only other casino we went to was the Hard Rock to play a little blackjack and people watch.

    Overall:

A great trip as we won some cash and stayed at a 4* hotel. We are ready to go back soon!!

If they didn't have the room you reserved, I am surprised they asked you for for $$$ for an upgrade. It seems to me that the upgrade should have been complimentary.

I used to work in the hotel industry. No hotel will ever GUARANTEE a non-smoking room. If you look at the reservations it's always listed as a "request" or "preference". The only thing guaranteed is the room. Even that is sometimes not guaranteed as hotels overbook just like the airlines do. If you do get bumped to a different hotel though you shouldn't have to pay for your room.

Eskimo is right and that is exactly what they told me. Non-smoking is never guaranteed. I should have clarified that my rooms were comped to begin with so $50 a night for a suite sounded good to me.

Sounds like an awesome weekend. We went over to Primm last year. We rode the Desperado and played at Buffalo Bill's. The Effiel Tower rest. sounded really nice and worth every penny. Glad you had fun. Vegas bound in 4 weeks......
