My other half informed me last night that we will be in Vegas Easter Monday for 4 days and she's worried the place is gonna be a mob scene. Thoughts??
This is a very late Easter this year. While most grade and high schools have their spring break the week before or the week after Easter most of them this year (around here at least) are having theirs in March. Colleges are also almost always in March regardless of when Easter is.
We arrive tues April 22....last time I looked room rates for tues, weds were low...that is how I gauge the crowds. I don't know what's going on but thurs the 24 room rates skyrocket...
We've been in Las Vegas a few times during that time and its never been too busy. Though it is a holiday in Canada, I don't think its observed much, if at all, in the USA.
I have a friend going May long (canada) who told me it was spring break then so will be very busy. I was like dude, spring break is in march/april lol. He was like, well that's just what i was told. *facepalm*
Easter is a big holiday in the NE....maybe not as big as Christmas or the 4th of July but it's still a very recognized holiday here. We almost always arrive on Easter Sunday in Vegas but this year being so late the wife has off the week before.......so we will be heading home on Thursday before Easter and do a Easter Brunch at home with family this year. But anywho, we have always found Easter Sunday a bit busy in Vegas but come Monday it's almost dead.
I've been looking at the weekend of the 25th and 26th and something is definitely up. Hotels Fri and Sat are high.
Yeah I am sure Easter is... I wasn't clear in my post but I was specifically talking about "Easter Monday" The OP is arriving on Easter Monday and saying while Easter Monday is a holiday up in Canada I don't think it is much observed at all in the USA, thats its just "the day after Easter Sunday"
No Easter Monday. Although it is widely celebrated and revered, Easter is strictly a religious holiday, not a federal one. Unless you are taking vacation time, it's back to work on Monday. I don't think it occurs to most to take time off unless they are doing spring break with the school age kids.
Oh, I must of misread your post.....What holiday is Easter Monday in Canada ? In certain areas in the NE the monday after Easter is known as "Dyngus Day" with Polish decent people.
I've spent two Easters in Vegas and I'll be spending this Easter there. I've always found it crowded on the weekends and somewhat on the weekdays. It's much cheaper to stay there over the Easter weekend than it is in the six weekends before and ten weekends after.
