Was just in Mohegan Sun (Uncasville CT.) again, what a big casino.

Almost in the middle of nowhere is this huge casino rising to the sky. Really big place, nice restaurants. Buffet really good.

We were there during the most recent nor'easter and got stuck there an extra day. Sounds like a nice place to be stuck in a nor'easter right? Well many of the workers couldn't get into work and restaurants closed and so were MANY of the table games. Not one craps table opened until late the next day.

I enjoyed it too, the one time I was able to drive up to that area. The buffet was excellent. I want to hit Foxwoods as well.

MS is a beautiful (and YUGE) facility. And they don't have a single UTH table..... sniff. :(

Ok, whats a UTH table?... I played Baccarat for the first time... It seems like a best guess, but players were strategizing with cards writing down numbers. I just put money down on dealer then money on player, doesn't seem like you can strategize that.

Sorry - cmani is correct UTH = Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em. Similar to regular Texas Hold 'Em in that players and dealer get 2 hole cards and there are 5 community cards, but you are not playing against the other players, only the dealer. The strategy is not too hard to learn and the element of risk (The ratio of the expected player loss to the total amount bet.) is a very acceptable .526%.

I like Mohegan Sun much more than Foxwoods. I understand the design of Foxwoods, which was build a casino and expand as demand grew, but I would have thought that they could have expanded in a more orderly fashion.

The way I remember it was similar to the Winchester Mystery House, hallways and corridors coming out of nowhere and slot machines in those hallways and corridors.

I've been there twice and thought the exact same thing. It's so easy to get lost there because of the unusual layout. I've never been to Mohegan though - I live only 2 hours from either casino though, so I'll have to make a trip out there this year.

a woman from Westfield MA just hit a penny machine for $527,000 at the sun.

at the sun you basically have two casino sections, the original which built in the round so it's easy to find something..just keep to the perimeter.
it has that older dark look, while the newer section ,separated by a small shopping mall is brighter and more like a Vegas layout and has a no
    smoking section.

Mohegan Sun on weekends sucks if you're a craps player. I was there the first Saturday in March. Only 6 tables open throughout the 3 casinos combined. For a huge complex like that, 6 tables is nothing. I had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get on a table. I can't imagine it's any better for a BJ player. The "Dark casino" (I don't know the name of it) only has $25 tables. Impossible for someone looking to go there and just hang out and play cards for a couple hours. Unless you have a bankroll of at least $1000. It is a nice facility, but definitely not the best for gambling, especially at table games, IMO.
