It doesn't take much to get me to agree to a Vegas trip, so when a friend mentioned he was going for a week, he didn't have to twist my arm too hard to get me to agree to tag along. I totally spaced on the fact that March Madness is a thing and was shocked at how expensive rooms were, but was able to cobble together free/cheap nights for my first week: 3 Nights at Plaza - Comp 2 Nights at Excalibur - $54 total 3 Nights at D - Comp The second week is niece's spring break - so the whole extended family is flying out and we'll be based in a non-casino hotel out in Henderson. Between work and family time, I expect week two will be pretty quiet - but planning at least a few tourist things. At this point, I've pretty much just given up planning in advance for Vegas. So no real plans. Vague plans include the same things as always: VP, lots and lots of VP Slotting Around Pink Drinks Sportsball Watching Oscar's 8 East At Least Once Fancypants Dinner (TBD) Using Up My Stash of D Matchplays Hitting Up Some Locals Casinos Follow along for blurry pictures of VP, food, pink drinks, and general Vegas.
Good Luck , looking for pics of the popular @eliza Pink drink , hope you win a lot . following along .
Oh yes....March Madness is definitely "A THING"..... A BIG thing....esp opening weekend. Right now NCAA 1st round....I went that week every year for about 13 yrs....made my reservations far in advance to get my comped CET rooms. But it is worth it....so much fun!
Lots of delays on the flight board. (The 9PM to Vegas is already pushed back to 12:30AM.). But so far my flight is showing on time and the plane is in air on way here, so fingers crossed. I’m at the Schlafly Brewhouse. Penn State on TV, Penguins on my laptop, and beer. Pretty much the only thing missing is VP.
May your wins be strong, your drinks be big, the sportsball be savory and delicious and your meals be on the edge of your seat exciting!
Let’s get ready to Vegas! Won $90 at the airport and now waiting for a Lyft to Plaza. Uber wanted $43, Lyft was $26. Good reminder to myself to always double check. Saving $17 on a car makes me happier than winning $90 on slots. Because I make no sense.
Checked into plaza. It’s a “mini suite” which is just a larger room with a couple chairs and a wet bar and fridge. Plenty nice for me.
Dropped my stuff in the room at went over to Main Street Station for dinner at 777 with my friend. He got downgraded from gold card to coupon book this stay and is not thrilled. But free food is free food - I’m in. I had a golden ale and a club sandwich. Sandwich was huge. I tackled half and brought the rest back to the room because I had to save room for dessert. The best dessert downtown. Lost $100 slotting through Cal in my way to ABC store for a bottle of wine for the room. Crashing early. Plan for tomorrow is to hang out at Plaza bartops playing VP and watching golf, hockey, and basketball.
Woohoo have fun @ Plaza And all the other places too of course Might be able to meet up next weekend Win most of the money - leave some for me and the other VMBers when we land next week
Up early - trying to stay close to central time for as long as possible. Slotted around a bit at Plaza +$100 and Cal -$30. Then breakfast at Market Street Cafe. Portuguese omelette and hash browns were mediocre, but filling.
Oh crud Eliza you need to coordinate your trips when I’m not on vacation as your trips are a great distraction when I’m stuck at home. The good thing is I might get to say hi. Hoping to go shoot some craps with a friend and his wife Thursday night. Maybe you can join us and we can get on a heater.
