I have not seen positive things on it. They do not allow you to bring in outside food and drinks to your room (I hope that is just a rumor) They also asked the nicest youtube guy All you can Vegas to leave. Why would you do that he has 348000 followers and his reviews always give people the benefit of the doubt

If carting in your own booze and food is a dealbreaker, respectfully, I’d suggest you’re not their target audience.

Riviera used to do this, or at least claim to do this. They actually used to make a big deal out of it at check-in time at the desk. Specifically verboten was order-in pizza and such.

It's incredibly difficult to enforce such a thing as taking up a take-out bag or container in an otherwise ordinary-looking tote bag. Ditto for a six pack or a bottle of hard stuff in a department store shopping bag. (LOL, unless they have some kind of enforcement on a "no outside clothing or sporting equipment to the room" or something.) :)

Now something like a roll-around cooler or an obvious bag of ice would be far more obvious.

Are they maybe trying to discourage such things as loud room parties? (I don't know, I'm asking.)

We ate at Ferraro's a few years ago. I thought it was solid old school Italian good dead cow, pasta, and service. We used a Restaurant.com coupon and how we found it.

I can’t speak to Virgin’s intentions, but the Hard Rock fought a long battle with 6-8 people in a 2 person room, coolers of booze and groceries being bright in, as well as some underage visitors hold-up in the rooms.

I never saw them bat an eye at a patron walking in with a bag of burgers/fries or someone with a 6-pack of beer, but they did get tough on large coolers and a week’s worth of groceries.

Certainly, Hard Rock enticed the young visitors with Rehab, etc. These folks spent all their money out at the pool and did everything they could to save funds to do so. Ultimately, I don’t think that’s a successful model to build a resort casino business on.

Though I’ve yet to experience it first-hand, am told Virgin made a conscious effort to lower mini-bar prices and on-site packaged liquor to “near street” prices.

LOL, I was unaware of the $200 "fine" for bringing a soda purchased at 7/11 to my room. I just knew that they were announcing the prohibition.

Has anyone who been to this new casino yet try this promotion they have going on thursday-sundays on their website From April 1-June 27? Top Spin $10,000 Weekends | Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas (mohegansunlasvegas.com) It says if you spend a point you get to spin on a prize wheel and can win up to $10k free play. I checked the website to see how much you have to spend to get a point and cannot find any information on how much you have to spend to get a point. I have never been there before so I am interested in giving this a shot end of May when I go to vegas for birthday if its worth the walk. I know I read new members get at lest $5 free play what I read a few comments above.

I don't think that the "regionally local" crowd is the target either. I'm in AZ. I have a ton of local choices for casino/hotels that are their own isolated location. I go to Vegas because I like to go to different casinos, walk the Strip or downtown, etc. If I'm driving all the way to Vegas, it's generally not to stay at an isolated property. I could do that here at Talking Stick or Harrahs Ak-Chin and save a few hours' drive.

The way I see them being successful is if they make heavy use of their venues. If there's an event I want to see I'm going to head over early, have a few drinks, gamble, go to the show, and probably hang out afterwards doing the same. Dayclub, brunch with some sort of entertainment, maybe partnerships with some of the other local businesses to get people there during the day; concerts, performances, DJs, nightclub to get people there at night. On a day with no events, I just don't see why I'd go there.

That was pretty much the Hard Rock model, and they did well for a very long time. They practically invented the Vegas dayclub with Rehab, after all. But I agree that it's going to be event-driven; personally, I've gone there many times when traveling from back east, but never felt motivated to stay there.

As far as what to expect, I imagine it'll be a bit bumpy at first. This is a huge undertaking for the Mohegans, and the fact that the casino is nominally separated out from the hotel portion could result in some systems issues. But I'm sure they'll work it out.

I just returned from an exploratory stay at Virgin last weekend. It was alright. The bones of the space didn't really change, although some things had moved around. Biggest immediate difference is the absence of the Center Bar, which is now just carpet and casino. I was really happy to see that several former HRH employees got jobs with VLV. I talked to several dealers and pit bosses who all said they worked at HRH for years. The Opal Tower (formerly Paradise Tower) was cordoned off and unused, and I also noticed that the Canyon Tower (where I stayed) had very few people. You could tell because they had the sanitation stickers over all the doors and out of probably 50 rooms I passed, only one had the seal been broken (I noticed this when I was checking in around 11a, and also again coming back from dinner around 7p). Casino had a few people but definitely wasn't crowded. Pool still under construction. Very hard to catch a cab in the valet area because they never turned in. The valet attendants had to run out to Paradise Road and flag them down to come in the driveway. Once when there was a line at the cabstand, I walked to Harmon and flagged down my own cab! I made sure to give myself an extra 30 minutes when heading to the airport, just in case I had trouble getting a ride!
I still have high hopes for the property once things get back to normal and the pool opens up. I'm not going to miss Rehab, but I do miss the rock music in the air, and the cool, edgy attitude the HRH always had.

Must be a major marketing push to locals now. Got an e-mail stating that if I visit I can get a free drink (up to $15). Somehow, I think I can resist. Looking forward to seeing Resorts World.

I visited the hotel the first week of May. Yeah, I was used to the center bar area where there was a drop in floor levels. Now it is all flat and everything on the same level. They are making a lot of changes though. I parked in the parking lot off of paradise and the walk to the casino was different than before. They gutted all the stores and other stuff on the walk to the casino. Construction workers working on the area with plastic sheeting on the floor protecting the new carpets. But from the walkway to the casino I could see the pool area.

I tried to pick up some souvie chips but the cashier won't allow it so I had to go to the tables to pick up some chips. So strange, hotel is Virgin but the casino is Mohegian Sun.

I was there around lunchtime, the tables were virtually empty. Guess the place will pick up in a few months?

They have a tough road ahead. They need to do a better job of marketing the property.

Need to offer "something" to attract locals. The video poker they now have ain't going to do it. Give the locals some BOGO incentives on food.

They need some good room rates and first class concerts to incentivize tourists away from the strip.

No word if they will bring back the porn convention to the Virgin. At least that will bring back the crowds for a few days.

IMHO, a lot of the porn convention will depend on the new LVCC. Currently for the CES the overflow exhibitors were going to the Sands expo but with the new wings of the LVCC they may be able to house the whole CES. If that's the case then maybe the Sands expo might drop their rental rates to allow the porn convention to hold their convention there. Right now the Sands expo holds the porn awards show so it would be easier to just hold the porn convention at the Sands.

Virgin is set to have a "Grand Opening" celebration on June 10th. Supposedly an appearance by Richard Branson? Maybe it will be virtual, I'm not sure he's allowed back in America just yet thanks to COVID. The pool & concert venue will be finished, so I guess we'll see what their real plans are for sustainability now.

    https://lasvegasweekly.com/ae/2021/may/28/christina-aguilera-virgin-las-vegas-grand-opening-/

Staying there about 2 weeks later, excited to see it now that it will be finished per se, but tempering my expectations based on previous reviews.

After hearing some rumors on social media that Virgin may already be headed to the auction block, I pulled up a walkthrough from last week.

I was pretty shocked to see how empty the place was. I figured with some of the prices on the Strip, they’d be pulling in a decent amount of business. My local is busier on a Monday at 11am than what I saw in that video.

    Not a good sign, IMO.
