That sucks. FYI, Jet Blue I heard is going to start service to Europe in the coming months. IMO it is the best domestic airline and if the MINT service is available on international flights it will make it IMO one of the better airlines in terms of international travel too. JB flies non-stop from JFK to Vegas and JFK is the major hub so if it does start flights this summer/fall, my guess is it would be Gatwick to JFK and JFK to Vegas, which would be a nice connection.

Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Norwegian fly to LV at certain time of the year. Have you seen if they have anything on your dates?

Good point re: Norwegian and it is adding flights to the NY area (NY-Stewart International Airport) from Europe.

That is a ridiculous price. There are other airlines. Check the UK equivalent of Expedia or better yet, Priceline or Hotwire. I didn't take the time to check, but there have to be much cheaper options. I know WOW is advertising flights for a quarter of your price, at least to NY. Good luck in your search. October is still a long way off.

I just searched google flights and WestJet seems to be fairly inexpensive. I don't know if it would be luxurious at all but it is still out of Gatwick and much cheaper.

Not luxurious, but IMO is a good solid airline. I am 6' 2" and their economy seats are doable for me. Most of my flights are a choice between Air Canada and Westjet, Westjet wins hand down for me....furthest I have gone would have be about a 6-7 hour flight, but it was much more comfy and better legroom than the same duration on Air Canada.....

Luxury on a plane is not a concern. Thomas Cook pretend to be quality. They're not. As long as I can get there cheaply I'm not concerned.

There's quite often flights from Manchester & London with Virgin / Thomas Cook etc. that are under £400 return. We just got 2 adults return into LAX for 350 each

I use skyscanner and google flights. We booked via Expedia for a trip in August. We live in Belfast, so we’re travelling out of Dublin. It’s a BA flight number out, and a Finnair flight number home, but it’s American Airlines planes all the way.

Edit: I looked for 25th October for a week. It flew Dublin - Manchester - Vegas, home via Gatwick. Virgin Atlantic. £505. So try out of Manchester?

I have just looked at their website and managed to get Gatwick to Vegas, out on 25th Oct and return 1st Nov. I managed to find it for £810 per person for Economy.

we've previously flown Virgin and Norwegian, but for our next trip are flying with Air New Zealand into LAX then hiring a car to drive to Vegas. We got our flights in a Black Friday sale for £175 return - absolute bargain - but you can pick up flights outside of sale time for just over £400 too.

Just wait around for the sales, and you'll definitely get something much more reasonable.

I've used Virgin every summer since 2010, and only ever paid >£1k when I've had p/e both ways.

As many have said, there are plenty of airlines, so you'll definitely not get stung too hard. I would sit on the floor of a flight on the way out, and it's only on the way home I need some comfort :p

You're checking on flights eight months out which is much to early. I'd imagine you would pay super premium rates booking that far out

It's just that the prices are hight at present, and there should be a sale or two before Autumn

I got premium both ways for this summer at the cheapest price I've seen it in the last 8 years, and I booked that the first week in September.
