Yeah, so did/does my hubby. :wink We went to the show, hubby tipped the maitre d' a few bucks and we ended up in one of those nice cushy private booths right up front. Made his day!

Don, we also saw Kenny Kerr’s show. Must have been a few years after you — the plastic wigs were gone. I still remember watching the show thinking, these are men?? who look better as women than most women! And still to this day I don't know how he pulled off that strip tease to end the show. :confused2: Well, I do, but...that's a whole different thread. :evillaugh

I should email my dad and see if he has any. When he was at University of Utah they used to go on weekends back in the hey-day. He was an avid photographer so he must have some good ones somewhere in all those boxes of slides. I think I have some from 1995, but that's hardly old school.

Just wanted to bring this back up before we forget about it. Great pics and fun to see all the changes that have happened to a 2 mile stretch of one road through the last 40 years. Amazing!

Just what I was thinking Al. I can't believe it's all changed so fast. I almost wish I was born earlier to see the "old days"...but that would mean that I'd be older now...so that wouldn't be good.

This isn't a pic, however its definitely "Old School Vegas". This is where I got my Vegas bug.

Man, I almost forgot how much I loved the old Maxim before I saw this pic.

It was replaced by the Westin, right?

I stayed a few times at Maxim's in the early years of my Vegas trips.

They had a deal w/ a few Canadian tour operators, and also they were sold by Hamilton, Miller, Hudson and Fayne as part of a package type deal. HMHF is now known as FunJet Vacations as the brandname. We used to get some great last minute sell-offs back then....

HMHF is still the parent company I think.

the good old days...... I haven't been in the Westin as of yet, soon though...:)

I stayed there in the late 80's on 3 occasions. The place was pretty neat.
good lil poker room. Since I had a rental it didn't bother me that I was off the strip. Heck, there was that gambling mecca called Bourbon Street practically next door. lol

Sunni, click on my user name to send me an email with the pics in it (once you have that figured out).

While you're at it, I need your address again for the POV coupon book I'm supposed to send you :)

Bump. Maybe some of our newbies have some oldies they'd like to share. :poke:

If you can get them scanned, email them to me. If you can't or don't have the time, you can send me the pics and I will scan them and send them back like I did for Becky. PM me if you want help.

This is great ... I have always tried to remember where the casino that had the front facade of a riverboat was and never could quite recall ... now I know and actually got to see a few shots of it. I wish there was one great repository of shots of all of the vegas sights over the years ... the UNLV site is pretty limited.
