    My Trip Report

It's very late because I've been unbelievably lazy lol. My g/f (fellow poster krisoxbro) and I went to Vegas in mid July and stayed downtown. This was only our 2nd trip and our first staying downtown, but we'll never stay anywhere else.
We got a room at the Plaza for about $25/night from hotelkingdom.com and they bumped us into a minisuite so our balcony overlooked fremont and we could see the light show from there as well. We were very happy with our room but didn't gamble at the Plaza much. Not really sure why. We did eat at the diner there several times. Kristin absolutely loved the Prime Rib and I had a Reuben everytime. Great stuff.
Our first night we did the classic rookie thing and get hammered early in the evening lol. It started at La Bayou with half yard daiquiris, brutal. We ended up playing blackjack at Fitzgerald's for a few hrs and were up so we stopped at the craps table for awhile. It had to be about 3am and many many free drinks in so we just kept on playing until I was down to about $3 after playing with house money. Nothing like drunken decision making lol.

I really don't remember exactly what we did day by day or anything, just figured I'd throw some stuff out that we loved.
We loved downtown in general. We took a bus up to the strip one night and basically spent the rest of the night deciding we wanted to get the hell back downtown. Way too crowded and expensive for us.
We had a blast gambling at the Fitz and I could probably spend all my time there. We didn't really dig golden nugget or Binion's. Actually the only bad service I had of any kind either trip was at the coffee shop at Binion's. They were really rude, and after sitting there for 15 mins with our only contact with our waitress being her running by saying "I'll be there when I can!" we left.
The buffet at Main Street Station was great. We were looking for great bargains and this was definitely one. We ate 2 meals there one day and our total food bill that day was $25.
The only thing we didn't do was make it to the Peppermill, but that's a definite for next time.
We didn't make any shows again, but now that I've seen Barry Manilow is gonna be in Vegas, we'll catch that next trip.
I didn't dig the Golden Nugget but I did enjoy their buffet.
That's about all I can think of, but I'm sure my g/f will add some stuff to it.
We just had an incredible time and are already planning next July's trip. I would have no problem staying at the Plaza again, but if we got a good deal at the Fitz that would be fine too since we had such a good time there.
We got a great flight from USAirways last summer, but with their problems mainly in Pittsburgh I haven't seen much in the way of good prices lately. It's still way early though so hopefully something will pop up.
Alright, that's it from me, sorry about the rambling but I don't like to do overly detailed reports lol.
    Zilla

Hope that you got the Players Card from the Plaza. They do several mailings with free rooms it you play just a little.
People should get Player Cards from any casino for that matter. They always send out great deals.
BTW we like the prime rib at the diner also. Try the one upstairs, it's even better.
    Downtown is for us also.

A mini-suite at the plaza... gives me something to shoot for. Although I have their card (one from the Jackie era and a plain white one from the transition) and since Jackie left I've gotten squat from them in the mail.

Thanks Don, we did grab a card from the Plaza as soon as we got there. We didn't play much there so I hope they still send us some offers as we liked it there. We didn't check out the upstairs place but we will next time, thanks for the recommendation.
Dr. Al, we got bumped into the mini at check-in, they were having trouble with what she said was a new computer system so we asked for a king bed and a fridge and I think she just did it because it was the only way she knew how. No $20 trick required.
