$20 Venetian/Palazzo

Did a $40 sammich and got upgraded to venetia tower with a good view of the strip and adjoining rooms.

Did the $20 sandwich at the Palazzo and got early check in at 10AM, late check out till 1 PM, strip view and high floor on a comp'd rate for a three night stay.

Agent didn't miss a beat and it all happened so fast. Was happy to get the room so early.

Nice. I just might try that in March.

Just did a 4 night stay at the Palazzo. Thursday to Monday. Booked a regular King room and at check in i put a $20 on the counter and asked for any complimentary upgrades. Agent said they were fully booked but was still able to "upgrade" me to a higher floor (28) Strip view with late check out added. She asked if i had a preference for a tower and i wanted to stay at the Palazzo so I'm not sure if changing would have gotten me an even better room, but happy with the outcome otherwise.

I'm arriving at Palazzo on 12/15 for 4 nights with a Luxury 2 Queen Strip View booked. It seems like waiving the resort fees is a common get amongst this thread, should I use a $20 or even a $50 to get that? I don't think getting a "better" room is possible based on what I already have reserved and what few rooms look to be available now.

Tried $20 today, just asked for early check-in (arrived 9AM). Was told I was re-blocked into a room that’d be cleaned earlier. It’s 2:20PM right now, still no room, so I’d chalk this up as a failure

Tried $20 today. Was upgraded to a strip view (but given the choice between strip and sphere view). Was also offered late check out, but didn't take them up on it because I don't need it.

I’m here for 3 nights. Just did a $50 sandwich and got upgraded to a sphere view. She said that was $75/night so if that’s true that’s a great deal. I also got four free champagne drinks but that might just come with the room.

I'm staying at the Palazzo with a buddy over MLK weekend. We have a luxury two queen room booked.

Other than perhaps getting a higher-level floor or a view of the sphere, is there any other value to be had from the $20 (or even $50 trick) when you already have a suite?

TIA

over MLK weekend
That is your first hurdle. It will be busy that weekend and the hotel should be close to full making it difficult to score an upgrade.

All room at Venetian/Palazzo are "suites," so don't let the name fool you. An actual upgrade for your room would be to at least premium or executive, but I suspect view or high floor may the only thing achievable for that weekend, depending on what time you all actually check in too. Never hurts to try, but know exactly what to ask for and see what happens.

Does anyone know if it's worth trying it (maybe $50) at VIP check-in at Palazzo? I guess I'm hoping for the next level higher beyond a standard suite with a good view I just don't know if the VIP check in staff operate the same way.

Gotta give it a try first.

It's worked for me at the Palazzo, but I offer it and ask if they can make the resort fees go away rather than ask for an upgrade.

She was filling in from the Palazzo side. She wasn’t even aware of the in-room fridge.

If you get a room with a view like that again, complain and either have them give you a better room or ask them to waive the resort fees. The worst they can do is say no.
