Due to check in Tuesday for 3 nights. Will land at 8:05 am Vegas time, so early check in would be great. Booked direct a standard Venetian suite room. This is my wife's first trip, so I'd like to try and get a nicer room. $20? $50? Do I ask for a Piazza Suite?

$20 got us from standard luxury suite to luxury suite with a view.. If your hoping for the Piazza I would try $50. Seeing to how you're landing on a Tuesday they might accomodate you.

Defintely ask for the larger room. And don't be afraid to ask for early check in and late check out. In addition, i would ask for the resort fees waived (that's $40/day).

Would throw them the $50 to try to get all of that.

Proof the $20 trick works...Bid on Priceline, won at $120/night (before fees/taxes)...Got a high floor premium view luxury suite ($329/night) and couldn’t be happier.

My tips, smile, eye contact, if asked how you’re doing answer and ask them how they’re doing then ask immediately for the upgrade.

If you gamble ask them to remove the resort fees when you check out

I get comp rooms there but at check in I request no resort fee and decline wifi and gym use. I can get free wifi in casino and am too hung over for the gym. They are one of the few resorts where you can say no to the resort fee.

I did the 20 trick and it worked. I actually tipped $40. Here's how it went down.

As I checked in, I gave the desk clerk my ID and credit card, and placed $40 on the desk in an ambiguous area, so as to say this 'could' be for you.

I then asked for an upgrade. I wanted a late check out, high floor, view, and 2 queens instead of a king. I also asked for him to waive the resort fee but he said no to that. I was able to get everything else I asked for -- late check out, high floor view and 2 queens for about $13/night.

Couldn't have been happier with the Palazzo.

I had 5 people at my most recent stay at the Palazzo. Used the $40 trick and asked for a room with 2 queen beds, high floor, strip view. They accommodated my request. I didn't mention that I had 5 guests, only that I wanted a room with 2 queens. No problem.

Has anyone tried this at the Venetian lately? I've never even stepped foot in the Venetian (I'm a downtown guy) but was offered 3 comped nights there based off of my play at the Sands in Bethlehem, and since I have friends staying across the street at the Mirage, I figured why not take them up on their offer?

Looking at the various rooms they have to offer, I am hoping for a Piazza suite. I'm checking in on a Sunday, and I was figuring a $50 tip. Would there be an issue with an upgrade on a comped room? Is $50 not enough? Is the Piazza suite unrealistic?

    Thanks in advance.

I tried it last year on my last trip with my gf. the lines were long and we got to check in at the VIP desk. I did it with a $20 and got a high floor strip view and she waived the resort fees. Not a huge upgrade but we were happy with it. I didn't ask for anything specific and didn't have high expectations. I was happy with how things went.

I haven’t tried a $50 tip before but the Piazza suite is very expensive. Maybe try on an off day where rooms are cheap in general. Look online and gage the room prices. Please let us know what you end up getting!

I used to $50 trick, and while I didn't get a Piazza suite, I did get an upgrade to the 30th floor with a strip view, early check in, late check out, resort fees waived and a bottle of champagne left in the room. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but the resort fees waived for a 3 night stay made it worth it.

Yea, Venetian is much better at taking care of you when you tip. Wynn, on the other hand, lol. That said, they hardly ever upgrade the room. There are too many high level players / people willing to pay for the premium rooms for them to want to give it away. The $50 for waived resort fees, champagne, early check in and late check out more than quadrupled your ROI so I'd be happy

My wife and I are staying at the Venetian next month during a convention with another couple. She and I are flying in to Vegas in the morning with his wife and he's not coming in until later on because they are using the company's travel agent and can't put him on the same flight as us three, and he's also the only one attending the convention. It might not even be 10 am and the three of us will be at the hotel and he's not getting in until the afternoon. They are trying to work it out to where his wife can check into the room because she has an identical credit card as his with her name on it. They are also going to try to change the room at check-in from a one bedroom suite to a two bedroom suite because apparently he couldn't book two bedrooms due to nothing more than availability.. which I thought was odd. (I mean I've looked it up and there are definitely rooms with two bedrooms but I don't know if he has to stay within some kind of budget.)

Assuming that she'll be allowed to check in, how likely do you think it will be they will change the room type? They are also going to try to take care of that before we get there if they can, but if they can't we are going to have to have some sort of backup plan. If it's truly an availability issue, my thoughts are that it won't be extremely likely. Early check in on a Sunday seems like that's going to be tougher to negotiate as well. I'm going to tell her about the $20 trick and offer to pay for it of course, but my biggest fear is that they're just going to take the $20 and not give her anything. If nothing else, maybe we can get a room with a view?

If the four of us have to stay in a one bedroom, it's not going to be that bad at the Venetian, right? All of their one bedrooms seem pretty spacious and they all have sleeper sofas from the looks of it. But any advice anyone could provide would be helpful since I've never been to the Venetian and have never really had to deal with the room and everything being under someone else's name...

Your worst case scenario is a two queen bed room which is more than ample space for four adults -- especially since there are his and her sinks at V/P. Regarding the room change, you will have to pay an upcharge as the two bedroom suite costs a good amount. The alternative is two adjoining rooms but not sure if you wanted to do two separate charges for the room.

Are the rooms you're talking about in your first sentence are different than the suites you mentioned in the second? I thought the Venetian was all suites, and the website seems clear on that I'm just looking for clarification. (Sorry.) Do they have "standard" king rooms and then "standard" two queens like most places? Thank you for the info!!

I think I was confused by your first post. Are you looking for two bedroom or two beds? At the Venetian, all the rooms are considered suites by virtue of their size. However, there are GRAND suites which feature multiple bedrooms, like I thought you mentioned. If you're looking for two beds, the bella suite is a perfect option and you should have no problem requesting that room type. It can accommodate four guests with the his and her sinks too. To confirm, the bella suite is an entry-level room.

Thanks! That was exactly the information I was looking for. And yeah all I meant was two beds, not two bedrooms. I mean that would be ideal obviously but as long as we can get a room with two beds that would be enough. Knowing exactly what to ask for is a nice advantage so thanks again! We’ll probably still try the $20 trick and see what we get.

You can use that trick to get a view... That should be no problem! Good luck.

A view and hopefully an early check in, or at least as early as possible. On a Sunday morning I don't know how that's going to work but we'll see. They've made the reservation in a luxury suite and we are going to try to switch it to a Bella suite the day of. I told them to try to switch it to a "Run of Hotel" room type before we get there but then again I'm an avid traveler who likes to think ahead to avoid hassle. The problem is, nothing would guarantee us a Bella suite because those are "sold out" for the block of rooms set aside for the convention. Seems they're still available for those dates on the "regular" site, which is comforting. I threw up my hands last night and told the wife she and I should just stay at Harrah's. But in the end it will be easier for us all to stay in one place. I have a lot of confidence that we'll be able to get what we want, and I don't mind at all using the trick to accomplish it. I'd love to have the experience at the Venetian because who knows if I'll ever get to go back there again...
