    My Trip Report

    Hello again VMB!

It's been 3 months since my last Vegas trip...with kids in tow. Remember these cuties? (G-10), (H-8), and (S-7)

    20160810_082817.jpg

Well, the girls are spending their fall break with their grandparents in Albuquerque. We drove from just outside of Denver to ABQ today. Our fur baby also came along, which saves us a boarding fee. Total drive time today was about 7.5 hours for 440 miles with a couple of stops.

Myself, (E-42), and hubby, (V-almost 45 and also known as @vajrtraveler on the board), will depart in our family truckster aka "Olive" our trusty mini-van at approximately 5am Friday, October 7th for Sin City. As a reminder, we're accustomed to road trips, so the drive doesn't bother us.

    The Lodging Plans:
    • Golden Nugget - Friday (10/7) - Monday (10/10) [$583.06 Total - Fri. ($159.20), Sat. ($167.20), Sunday. ($119.20) and of course all of the lovely taxes and resort fees.]
    • Aria - Monday (10/10) - Friday (10/14) [$621.82 Total - Mon. (Comped), Tues. ($150.00), Wed. ($150), Thur. ($127.20) plus the resort fees and taxes. This offer also includes $75 Free Play and $50 Resort Credit.]
For those of you who followed my trip report in July, you know that we traveled with our 3 daughters plus met my sister-in-law and her 2 daughters. We had a blast, and I appreciate all of the VMBers who followed along!

Since this trip is sans kids, it will include more drinking (lots of lounge/bar visits planned), nicer eating (Giada's, Beauty and Essex, Bally's Sterling Brunch) just to name a few.

We also have tickets to see Le Reve, a spa day at Aria complete with a private couple's suite, a night tour booked at the Neon Boneyard, and another visit to the Mob Museum.

Gambling was tricky the last time because of doing so many family activities. I am a slot junkie that never gets tired of spinning the reels. I also like video poker, but don't follow perfect strategy or even pay attention if I'm at a short pay machine. No judging you experts! :nono:

You may also remember that my slot play involves a spin counting method using my extra fancy finger clicker....hence my extra fancy title. :p I keep good records of my wins/losses and always cash out once I've cycled through my allotted spins. (Example - I put $100 in a machine with a max bet of $2, so that buys me 50 spins. After 50 spins, I cash out and put in a new $100 and repeat.) I usually walk away with most of my bankroll without too much of a loss. This summer I was up $1,300 at my highest and ended my trip up $600. Not bad on slots!

Look at the new finger clickers I got! I still have my black one and kept two of the colored ones. V, my kids, and my parents got the rest. They think they're cool too! LOL.

    20161006_204257.jpg

My bank roll for gambling only is $3k. I once thought I would bring $5k, but the girls have taken on a lot more extracurricular activities, so I felt I needed to lower my gambling amount. Keep in mind I play through the full $3k before I ever play off my winnings, count my losses, etc. No daily envelope system for me. No table games either and V doesn't gamble, so that leaves the whole bankroll for me!

    20161006_204159.jpg

As for other expenses, there's not really a set budget. I've got about $500 cash for tipping, etc. The rest will go on our new MLIFE Credit Card to earn points. My current status is Gold, but of course points reset on 9/30, so I'm starting from scratch. The most expensive thing planned is our Spa Day at Aria. I'm estimating with tip it will be $1,200- $1,500. Gulp! A week without kids makes you reach for the stars! It also makes you come prepared as you'll see in my next picture. LOL.

    20161005_115927.jpg

Told you I planned to get my drinking on!

Well folks, I hope you'll join me for my latest adventure. I promise lots of updates with food and slot porn.

We are making a stop at Meteor Crater in Arizona on our drive tomorrow. I'll fill you in on that part of the trip too!

Cheers and keep your eye out for V and me wearing our new totally cool VMB bands! Glitter rocks! :nworthy:

Night, night...need some zzzzz's before the adventure begins.

5:30am and ready to hit the road!

Apparently, I need an hour lead wake up time, not 30 minutes to stay on schedule.

Quick stop to fill up Olive's tank and empty mine just outside of Gallup, NM.

My birthday was in September and V's is in November, so my mom made us a combined gift basket to open along the way. We also have a bag we're not to open until we arrive. She also packed us a picnic lunch for the road. Moms rock!

I waved back! we're actually 30 minutes south of Gallup so we enjoy the same drive to Vegas. Not too long, and much more scenic than the drive from Denver to Albuquerque! We use to live in Denver too!
PS Moms are the best! Especially when they take of the kiddos while we enjoy our time in Vegas!

Just arrived at Meteor Crater in Arizona. Tickets were $18/each for adults.

    20161007_092321.jpg

I visited this attraction in 2005 on a girls' Vegas trip with my mom and grandmother, but V has never been.

Having our picnic now before heading on towards the glitz.

    20161007_112301.jpg

    Yummy, thanks Mom!

We really enjoyed Meteor Crater. We toured the museum part, watched the film, walked up and down to the observation areas, and bought the girls souvenirs in the gift shop. We opted not do the 1 hour guided walking tour around the rim - 1/2 mile out and 1/2 mile back.

V is an aerospace engineer by trade, and we spent 16 years living by NASA in Houston. He now does the same job, but in Denver. We are really into space related history and science, so this was right up our alley.

120 miles away! Stopping to fill up Olive and get some coffee. We're both dragging.

8:30pm dinner reservation at Triple George tonight. Hope the adrenaline rush of seeing Vegas gives me my 2nd wind.

I'm surprised there's no CVS or Starbucks at the bottom of that crater!

    We're here!!! :headbang:

Arrived at about 4:45pm, valeted at the Golden Nugget Rush Tower, checked in to a Rush Tower room on the 11th floor on the Strip/Downtown side (we were given the option of that or Fremont), and currently waiting on luggage....it just arrived.

The last time we stayed at GN, we did the Rush Tower Gold Club. We decided to just do the regular Rush rooms this time. They look the same, but I think we had a fridge and microwave on the Gold Club Level. Also, the Club Level is higher, we were like floor 22 or 23. You got free water, candy, and K-cups. We brought all of those this time. We're not paying the ridiculous $10/4 K-Cups. Internet includes 2 devices at a time which is kind of lame since we have about 100 with us. There is a DVD player available. There are robes and slippers to use. I also noticed they put a full door on the shower/tub combo instead of the silly half glass that was there the last time. The Rush rooms are large and well appointed for the price.

Now for a much needed shower and then check out Fremont before dinner at Triple George. I also need to update my address for my player's card.

Some room pics below. I'll post again later.

Good luck! Curious to see how the clicker deal works this time around. Sounds interesting.
