Planned trip months ago and then broke bones in both my feet. Not willing to cancel my trip since it's in 12 days. Anyone have any tips?
I hate the thought of renting a rascal or something but it's that or a wheelchair. At least I have two "boots" on so it won't look like I am just lazy.

The first treat will be going through TSA - they will test/swipe both boots.

I can only speak to wearing one boot when I broke my foot 10 days before a trip to Montana for reenactment of little Bighorn battle. I traipsed, climbed, hiked for a week through MT, WY, and SD with no problems.

I’m guessing you won’t be nearly as mobile in two boots, yikes! I’d opt for a scooter. Best of luck.

Definitely rent the scooter. No reason to hate the thought when it will make you more mobile on your trip.
Where will you be staying? If you could stay at a resort that offers everything you need without having to leave the property, that might make it easier on you. A place like Orleans, for example.

Found a place for $18/day and they will drop it off and pick it up. Fits in a trunk for Uber/Lyft threy say.

That's a pretty good price for a scooter. What company was that?

If I was in your shoes (boots?) there's no question...I would definitely rent a scooter. Vegas is extremely accessible so you should still have a blast

It's called "Cloud of goods" 3 different options.
Our dates apparently overlap this trip so if you see a crazy lady with 2 boots on going "beep beep" just tell me to shut up and move along.

I went to Vegas too soon after I had major surgery once and it was a real struggle.
I was on pain meds that didn't agree with me and I remember having a panic attack
inside a casino and I practically ran out of the place to catch my breath. - Miserable
Trip so take my advice and stay home and mend. Vegas isn't going anywhere.

My first reaction is to say to postpone the trip.

The scooter idea is really great the more I think about it, especially if you can get it as cheap as @ebuzz7 has pointed out. Ride that thing everywhere like a boss!!!!

p.s. how did you break both feet?!? Sounds awful!

Some people are pretty mobile with one boot; not sure about two.

A lady wearing a boot passed me in the last 10K we did. I couldn't catch her...

I'd vote to postpone if possible; get a scooter if not! Either way...have loads of fun when you get there!

I'd hire a scooter 100%, I'm permanently disabled and get one every summer. Wouldn't even dream of missing a trip because I can't walk.

I get wheeled around at airports, and stagger around inside the airplane.

In Vegas I drive everywhere, and then transfer myself to the bar/tables/slots.

I was in the group that drew that admiring glances and comments from the 'Look at that lazy b***ard' gang.

I had to use a scooter before I even needed my crutches/wheelchair, because back in my late 20s I could walk fine, just not for more than about 50 yards, lol. Still about 45 yards further than most can at 3am, I suppose.

When people were rude about me using a scooter, I'd try to make them feel bad for judging by explaining in detail why I used one. This was quite mischievous of me, but if it saved them doing the same to someone who might care what others thought, it was worth it :)

You don't need feet to gamble!!!! ;)So many of us use scooters in Vegas! I agree with @Marky147 in that people are so damn judgmental, but F 'em. They don't live your life! Have a great time and so sorry to hear that you have cause to need assistance. Injuries and/or disabilities suck, but Vegas is pretty scooter/wheelchair friendly.

I agree with all of this, but would caveat that it's mostly applicable to the Strip. Downtown is technically accessible, but because the properties are so much older (more stairs, narrower walkways, etc.) it's a bit of a pain to get around on a scooter down there. On the Strip, it's incredibly easy, and nobody is going to bat an eye. They're everywhere in every casino these days.

Out of curiosity, I've always wondered why people consider getting on the plane first to be an advantage. Your seat is reserved, it's not like getting there early will get you a better seat or anything. To me, it just means you spend more time sitting in an uncomfortable seat from which you can't really more. I much prefer being the last to board, personally.

To the OP, I'll echo everyone's sentiments saying that your situation must really suck, but I'm happy to hear you've got the ambition to do it anyway!

As for actual useful advice, I don't think you can get a better answer than what Mark provided. The only thing I'd like to add on here is that in the two trips I've made to Laughlin, I've noticed that the casinos there are exceptionally accessible and scooter-friendly. This is undoubtedly because the city attracts a mostly older client base, many of whom use mobility devices.

So while much of the strip does have accessible elements, I think you may enjoy spending a few days in Laughlin, as I believe you'll have an easier time getting around there.
