Assuming Alberta is similar to BC, the RCMP will make an unscheduled visit to your residence to see if you're there. As well, anyone arriving at the border (car - not sure about airports) without a 'plan' to self quarantine will be put up in a monitored hotel for the duration.

Yes I can see how an unscheduled check in would work.

I think @Not at the table Carlos will give it a better and more accurate version than myself as I only heard about it. Plus, he also had a pretty good trip and a fun report to look at.

Okay, in my drunkeness throughout the course of this trip, I remember now that it was MB that told me this story! My apologies. You guys see what my trips are like. I am impressed that I can remember anything some nights. So......

MB waiting for me in the lobby of Caesars. Guy and his wife are trying to check in. The gentleman observes a young man in close proximity to his obviously pregnant wife and politely asks for some space as the dude isn't wearing a mask. 98% of the people in the casinos at this point are wearing a mask and this is a more than reasonable request. The dude chirps something about Covid and then gets in real tight to the guys wife and deliberately coughs on her. The gentleman literally kicks the guys right in the chest/stomach and before anything else happens security gets there. Security kicks out the cougher and proceeds to let the other guy check in. I am not an advocator of violence but I will respectfully suggest that "dude" had that coming and that Security made the right call. Regardless of your beliefs around Covid...who the f+ck does that?!?!? I hope the guy had a nice shoe imprint on his chest all weekend!

@Gaggles its not that I don't like that story but what does that have to do with a fight with a 50 year old woman -- unless the pregnant wife was 50 years old? Sounds like a story is still missing.

Oh good lord! I am getting the stories mixed up. Okay, I will tell this story. This one had JR and I shaking our heads. I have gambled and been to Vegas well over 100 times, Tahoe, Reno, Laughlin, Mesquite, New Orleans etc. I have never had anything like this happen. So.....

It is Friday night in Tahoe around 10:00 pm. Now for those of you who don't get to Tahoe all that often, Harrah's doesn't have a lot of .25 bar tops. In fact, almost none. But one small video poker bar we were at had two of them. JR and I are taking it pretty easy playing single play .25 DDBP. A well dressed pair of ladies in their 50's are playing the machine beside us. One of the "ladies" came over to our machine and started chatting with us. It started off like a thousand other conversations I have had on a thousand other nights. In very short order this person began insulting us about our professions and being so absolutely antagonistic that JR and I were taken aback. It was like someone flicked a switch. Her and her friend were clearly intoxicated so I tried to deflect and give her the benefit of the doubt with a re-direction of the conversation and even some self deprecating humor but she just pressed it. Turning the other cheek is something I can only do for so long and I began to push back. Then her friend started insulting us. I recall specifically her saying "We are locals and we will get you kicked out of here". To which I may have told her that didn't exactly impress me and she could do something anatomically impossible to herself. It was at this point her friend started chirping from two machines over about "Canadians".

Realizing that this was deteriorating, I asked the bartender to get these "ladies" out of our faces. Admittedly, just prior to this I may have told the other lady to "Go get another shot of botox in her face". Regardless, the bartender moved the original antagonizer to the other side of the bar. Well I see both these ladies try to get some support from some other guys in the area who I assume were also locals. They also got their previously unseen husbands attention on this. The one husband didn't say anything but he did take over the play of the second wife's machine in what I assume was an attempt to de-escalate things. The other husband, spoke with his wife and eventually things cooled off.

Shortly after this the original trouble maker cam over to apologize and of course, I immediately accepted and also apologized for my behaviour. In the stunning part of this she literally said, "We play on these machines all the time and I was just coming over here to argue with you and try and get you to move so I can play that machine".

JR and I were absolutely blown away that anyone would do this. Anyways, they ended up leaving and it was all good. For w few minutes there though I really thought she was going to hit me because we were going back and forth pretty good. JR was as shocked as I was and even asked me if anything like this had happened before. I assured her, it had not.

It was a bit of a scene for a few minutes everyone and very uncomfortable. I can understand this type of behaviour from drunk 21 year olds but people who are closer to 60 than not should know better even if they are drunk. Oh the adventures.....

Wow, I can’t believe that. I’m sorry you and your wife had to listen to that verbal abuse. Sounds like you handled yourselves better than I might have. This was a great trip report. Glad the 2 of you made it home safely.

I swear I wasn't trying to hype it. Until I just posted, I thought @FABismonte was asking to hear about the MB story which I thought was from EastCoast's trip. This stuff will happen when you are drinking for 8 out of 11 days.

@Gaggles that was a wild story about an old lady trying to get you off "her machine." I loved it. It reminded me of a recent "Gambling With an Edge" podcast with Bob Dancer and Munchkin. Munchkin said it was a regular tactic of advantage player teams to try to piss off "civilians" on gambling tables to drive them off so that they could do a play, including getting more cards dealt only to them on good BJ games.

The important part of this story is that wait! There are .25 bar tops at Harrah’s Tahoe? Where? Are they at the bar right by the escalators? That’s the only place I could find a quarter bar top STP machine.

Yup. Two .25 bar tops by the escalators and that elevated bar but there are also a row of about 5 machines that are quarters. It is a neat little nook that I sort of only discover for myself on the last day of this trio but they have clearly been there for years. Their are also 2-3 .25 machines at the bar tops near the State Line/front door entrance. Both of them on the far side of the bar when you are coming in the front door. Max bet is 10 coins but you can play them at 5 coins.

Harvey's has a lot more .25 bar tops. I kinda like Harvey's casino better. And I liked the rooms better but for some reason, that casino is always WAY less busy that Harrah's.

I mean if you were judging a place by Check In alone, Harrah's check in is like the El Cortez and Harvey's is like the The Venetian. Crude examples to be sure but the lobbies of each can't compare.

@Gaggles it warms my heart you like Harvey's. We always prefer staying at Harvey's and did last week although we gamble in both spots. It doesn't draw as many crazies as Harrah's does and in these Covid times having two elevator banks is really important. The crowds getting on and off the elevators at Harrah's can be nuts as you know. Less crowds also means better drink service!

I know that bank of VP machines at the Stateline door at Harrah's and this last trip played the $1 Royal Sequential that is over $20k. It is a hoot to play although the chances of hitting are probably like the Powerball but I play that too.

Hope your quarantine goes well. We are doing our own mini-quarantine too. Day 7 from our return and all is well. My husband is having a quarantined fishing day so I am a happy gal.

This is AWESOME. Was it designed to promote masking?
