Turtleman is CHEAP and only needs a cup or two. He's also such a mess before showering and making himself "beautiful" that he doesn't even want to open the door. In case of fire, it will be a tough decision!

My favorite hotel is Fremont because there is a Dunkin Donuts inside. I cannot tell you how many times I run down to get a coffee in my pajamas, intending to gamble a quick $20 on my way back up, and then realize hours had passed and I still have not showered or changed out of my pajamas. Ah vacation life.

Gold Coast has coffee makers, so it's not an issue for me anymore. But, like @Turtleman and @vegasvstr I use an immersion heater if I'm somewhere else.

I'm not a coffee drinker but I stay at a lot of hotels both in Vegas and around the US. I find that the lower the rank/star level of the hotel the more they give you in your room, fridge, coffee maker, even microwave sometimes. But then I'll stay at Caesars, Wynn, Venetian and you don't get any of this. Some places have a Keurig but charge WAY too much for the k-cups in the mini bar. My boyfriend drinks coffee so if we are staying at a place with a Keurig I toss a few k-cups in my bag for him. Otherwise he just gets a coffee downstairs.

I tried this and it just didn't quite do it for me. That's when I bought the little single cup coffee maker.
But I know many others have mentioned this as well and really like it.

This is what I travel with and I use Starbucks via Instant coffee. It is IMO, the best instant coffee.

WARNING! WARNING! This typically makes your coffee much hotter than a regular coffee pot - at least mine. I spent a few days in Duluth last week, and used this pot and MASSIVELY burned my tongue and the inside of my mouth :(.

Thank you for the tip! I'm pretty sensitive to temperatures, so maybe I'll make it, take my shower and *then* drink it.

I am entirely the same about that first cup of coffee in the room. Rest of the day, I'll get coffee while out and about.

I travel light, carryon only. An immersion heater, a collapsible pour over and a Ziploc with coffee, filters, some sweetener takes very little room in carryon. I'm considering adding a collapsible coffee mug to my tool kit - I don't know whether the silicone sides would tolerate contact with the heater element.

if only room service coffee was drinkable. Every time Ive tried its weird tasting light brown water.

I have packed my one cupper for years.....I even bought a replacement thinking it would wear out but it's still working! The issues that I have had:
-some hotels have cut way back on room service, so not positive that you can get it as suggested.
-waiting for cocktail service in the a.m. can be dicey......and I never like spending time/money waiting for that coffee. I ALWAYS bring a cup down with me when I start playing in the morning.....my idea of heaven is some VP with coffee!

I just looked up collapsible travel cups on Amazon. Gee, I had no idea, but there's no need. Assuming you pack underwear and socks, just shove some in the cup to minimize otherwise wasted space and it won't take up more room than a collapsible cup.

I've even poured hot water over "real" coffee into glass using a toilet paper filter. (I always take extra packets of coffee before leaving a nice request note with a few bucks. Has always worked.)

I stay at the fremont casino and always ask for a coffee pot and they send one up to my room no charge

So here's a question...anyone buy the cold brew coffee and use an immersion heater to heat it up, add your cream and drink it like that? Is it decent? I know I *can* just buy the cold brew, but I love a hot drink in the morning. If this is doable, it might be my easiest and best option. I have to go buy a few things at the drugstore anyway, so I can pick up cold brew while I'm there. Then all I have to pack is the immersion heater, (which I'm assuming doesn't take up much space) and a coffee mug. Right?

Some of you might laugh at me, but depending on how involved you want to get, I've used a portable cold brew maker that's about the size of a water bottle. I fill it up with coffee grinds, then water, then let it sit for 24 hours. I also carry along my own little baggy of the shelf stable individual Land O Lakes Mini Moos and a few sugar packets. I know it sounds like quite the process, but sometimes I travel to places where I might not have easy access to my addiction, lol. I usually drink my coffee iced unless it's incredibly cold outside, but you can use an immersion heater. Below are the products that I personally use:
