    My Trip Report

    After spending our first week of vacation in Portland, OR we are now in Vegas. The Portland portion of the trip was to visit family and possibly acquire some good luck. Mrs. Z's brother has a new family member and we had plenty of Max droolage deposited on our pant legs, initial indications are that this could be lucky ! Max is an 8 month old St B. and he drools on everything and everyone and thoroughly covered Mrs Z's pant legs before we departed Portland yesterday.

    Upon arrival (~5:00PM) in Vegas yesterday we picked our Thrifty car rental. The Thrifty counter was closed and a sign sent us to the Dollar counter where there were 7 people in line. It took ~20 minutes to get to the counter and we completed the paperwork and were informed to go to the Hertz location to pick up our car in the "5 star" area. Hertz does not have areas that are designated economy, mid-size, full size, etc. It just has the cars parked in an area with signage stating "5 star". I went back to the garage attendant and asked which area we could chose a car from and he just kind of waved his hand and said anything facing the middle. So, a bit confusing, (there seemed to be 2 cars available) but we got our car and were on our way (folks behind us had to wait for cars to be delivered). After check-in at The Orleans we went down to play before dinner. Checking the pit area, craps tables (3 open) were all $15 min and BJ tables had one $5 (from a cont. shuffler), two $10 pitch tables (both full, 4 players max) and many $15 pitch tables (fairly full). Mrs Z was playing VP and when I caught up to her, she had already hit several 4 OAK's and was up (Max droolage is lucky). We played together for a bit, went to Bailiwick for dinner and played a bit more VP and I hit 4 OAK dueces. We gave up on chasing the royal at the bar (25 cent progressive was up at $2,300 last night) and called it a long day.

    Wed morning

    upload_2021-4-28_11-31-47.png

    Mrs Z is back at the VP bank and the progressive is now up to $2,430, so she is chasing. I am heading down as apparently Max droolage is quite persistent as she has hit several 4 OAKs already. Just in case the MAX droolage wears out we have sent a text to her brother requesting he immediately overnight some additional droolage. Today's schedule is to head downtown and try the matchplays at The D and El Cortez with lunch at Le Thai. I'll try to send an update tonight or tomorrow morning. If anyone has any requests regarding checking on table limits, etc., let us know and we'll try to check it out.

    Whatever DT table limits you happen to see are always welcome, especially to compare weekdays to weekend...

    I'll be at The Orleans and The D in two weeks and following along. Nice to hear about current conditions. I'd be curious to find out about the BJ table limits and capacity at The D too.

    Hope you have an enjoyable trip! Sounds like you definitely need some more Max droolage to keep the hot streak going....I might need some sent my way too!

    When you get over to Suncoast, would like to know what their table minimums are like since they are out of the way from the strip traffic. Oh, and don’t forget to make a stop at Du-par’s while you’re there.

    Downtown table games are $10 min for BJ at most of casinos. Craps is mostly $15. We did the boarding pass match plays at The D & El Cortez and ended up winning ~$70 (Richard Wilks promo worked for both of us). We parked at Binions and a slot attendant validated the garage ticket, but when we got to the gate, no ticket/payment was needed.

    Wednesday recap:

    * VP was good to us all day as we hit quite a few 4 OAKs
    * clearly hitting the Diamond Royal progressive was the most exciting event of the day
    * lunch at Le Thai was excellent (3 color chicken curry, spicy eggplant with tofu - spice level 3). It was a nice day and we ate outside at a sidewalk table
    * if you park at Binion's and actually need to validate your parking stub, just sit and play at any slot/VP machine and press the service button. A slot attendant will come to see why the light is on and all you need to do is request that they validate the parking stub (even thou we ended up not needing it)
    * if you do the boarding pass promotion at the D or El Cortez, be sure to print your boarding pass vs using an electronic boarding pass. The electronic version disappears from your phone and the boothling eventually agreed to use our Southwest confirmation number (also the luggage tag printout helped) - a different boothling might not be so accommodating
    * in addition to winning $70 at BJ while playing the boarding pass promotion (and a few extra hands), we won $125 playing VP (with no money in) at El Cortez using the free play that they gave us
    * casino personnel at every casino we were at were very insistent on proper mask usage

    Thursday plans:
    * moving to Suncoast
    * lunch downtown at one of the Boyd properties
    * doing an American Casino Guide gaming coupon run at the downtown casino's
    * VMB meet-up at Paris TBD (depends on how much time we spend downtown)
    * dinner TBD

    Here's some pictures from today at The Orleans and downtown casino's

    I really liked Known Agenda, but I hate his post position draw (gate #1). Only 1 horse from gate #1 has won the KD in the last 45 years (and only 1 horse has finished second) ! However, they started using a new gate last year and gate#1 has moved ~15 feet to the right, so he won't get as crushed as when they used main and auxiliary gates. If 1 or 2 horses scratch, they move the horses over by not starting horses in gate #1, then gate #2 - so there's a chance he'll move more toward the center. I will probably bet a trifecta with KA, Hot Rod Charlie, Rock Your World, Essential Quality on top, then will have ~8 picks for second and 8-10 for third. If someone other than EQ wins and we get some of the longer odds horses to come in second and/or third, the trifecta should easily pay 4 figures.

    with you on those picks. i like mandaloun and o besos as long shots so i'm sprinkling them in with the horses you mentioned. tossed soup and sandwich in to a few tickets as well.
