Um...... I don't know... I just don't know.... 18 years might be just too young but you do bring good point,,, go off to war..voting etc. interesting .... I'm sure there will be serious opposition.

a lot of things to consider here. in my home state, you can buy lottery tickets at 18 but must be 21 to go to the casino. I suppose because they serve alcohol, im not sure. the liquor laws are just all over the place silly. gambling and drinking can become really bad habits. deciding to take a drink or smoke a cig, I don't think is as big as a decision as deciding to sign your life away for the military or go marching off to war. do you really know what you are getting into? who knows? and voting?? OMG most voters are way under-informed at any age. I sure don't have the answers. but the casino would like it, but then again, how much spending money do 18 year olds have?

My guess is that the issue will be alcohol on the Casino floor.....

At the Seneca Casino in Niagara Falls New York, they have a section where 18 year old's could play slots but you cannot bring drinks into this area.

Seems it could be way more trouble then it's benefits.

Just my opinion but, if you are permitted to vote, join the service and defend our country, and be treated as an adult in a court of law, I believe that you should be able to drink, gamble and do what any other adult is allowed to do.

many years ago New jersey made 18 legal age for alcohol. After about a year they changed it back to 21.

they need to get more gambling revenue also they need to get the kids that go overseas ,but they to get the drinking age to 18 for that or they will be doing alot of mcdonalds cup checking too see whats inside there cup

I oppose it simply because it might hinder my drinking. Start bringing in those under 21 and they start having to clamp down on where you can drink. the two go hand in hand.

Mass did that when I was 18...saved me a trip to Vermont to stock up.
When I was 21, they changed it back.

? what is the legal age to drink in Vegas? 21?

Against it.

I do appreciate the arguments in favor of it, especially the one where you can go off to war, but after raising two kids past 18, the maturity levels just are not there for the kids these days. Maybe it was my poor parenting, but after looking at all those high school kids no way are they ready for Las Vegas.

This could get a lot more kids to go to Nevada for college though.

How much money does an 18 year old have? My kids have very little money. Maybe all the trust babies from California is what they are shooting for.

Doubt it will ever happen. Federal highway funding demands that the drinking age is 21 and will make ID checking a gigantic hassle.

There are better ways to increase revenue, imo.

Wonder if this is being done with the support of casinos? I don't see the need for it. I don't see 18-20 y.o.s to be a worthwhile customer to pursue due to lack of money and other distractions. I could see slot routes benefiting more than casinos. I am sure there will be opposition due to moral reasons and neurological ones being brought up quickly.

Voting is a right, gambling is not, drinking is not. Western culture and particularly the U.S. long has struggled with the question of majority. WTF do we let kids drive at 16, for instance? Then again, they can draft your ass and send you off to a war zone at 18 so why get all Puritanical over booze and gambling?
