Not much luck after dinner.... Met up with my friend and handed off his room. Saturday breakfast has been changed to Bacchanal buffet ... Gotta use up reward credits!
Thanks for this- it's a place I would have considered trying, but nothing about your description sounds appealing, so I'll probably pass for this trip. Hopefully they figure it out.
I can see using RCs because you don't want to spend cash, but "gotta"??? Unless you have a BIG appetite, IMHO, there are other less expensive places for breakfast.
Today (Saturday) was basically a casino day .. Started off at bacchanal buffet .. Pretty solid. There were some special dishes due to cny but I didn't think they were noteworthy. After breakfast, I checked out of Caesars and moved to cosmo. City studio was a nice size and check-in was available at noon. No fee. I like how the shower is built for 2! Gambled at Cosmo all afternoon, made sterling status easily. Not that I expect anything out of it. Finally it was time for dinner! Lots of pics from dinner... I'll have to upload via computer.
Dinner was awesome, in short. 21 plates - all of them plated in front of you. Very big on molecular gastronomy. Creativity, flavors, everything was good. Lots of Mmm! moments .. I didn't take photos of every single dish.. Below: this was manchego but it literally melted in your mouth as a cold creation. Below: uni on a cracker with onion skin(?) on top Below: you can't really see it from the picture but it's orange flavor (no bitterness) and there's a mussel in the foam One shot of the food preparation - lots of dry ice and freezing Literally frozen sangria ...served in half a wine bottle! I forgot what this was.. but it was very tasty. The green spots are parsley oil I think.. Crab inside shell.. we were given a tube of broth to add as well. Yum! Foie gras puree(?) with pear slices and truffle shavings on top. This is fish (sorry, forgot what kind) that did not have any salt or pepper. The black stuff on top is dehydrated squid ink and the black liquid is squid ink. That alone provided enough flavoring! Beef cheek: This was amazing - the white block is made of marcona almonds .. at first glance, you'd think it was one big rice krispy treat.. but the texture is actually cool and it melts right down in your mouth. This contraption was used to brew / boil coffee, I think.. pretty neat looking! Chocolate, fruit, dehydrated strawberry powder (I think) This was crema catalana, I believe.. we were told to mix up the egg yolk part with the rest, then eat it.. amazing flavor! The cup has rum with most of the alcohol boiled away, diluted with the coffee from above. This was another plate of awesome - cherry bomb and turron (nougat). you put the cherry bomb in your mouth, then pull on the stem.. it collapses and releases yumfest! More dessert bites.. Final parting plate - mint chocolate squares with chocolate "leaves" hidden amongst the real mint. Totally recommend this experience - it was a little over 2 hours and just pretty amazing to see it AND taste it.
@Eleven99isFine - -regarding Best Friend, not to say I told you so, but . . . . Just kidding, and thank you for the mini-review.
now waiting for my flight home.. thanks for following along! The dinner was the best 350 I've ever spent in Vegas .. definitely pricey but good for special occasions. Of course, things are delayed -- ugh. Cosmo is actually decent - I'd consider staying here again. Room comfort is on par with Aria.. except that my room doesn't have a desk / workspace. Potential dealbreaker if you ask me. My friend liked staying at Park MGM - he was in a Nighthawk suite. Hotel still has some kinks to work out.. the self check-in process is terrible. Customer service is overall good. Elevators are dreadfully slow... I don't know why! there are 6 of them in each bank..? No platinum line for Starbucks - FAIL!!
You swearing off the local CET properties too? I gotta hit up Joliet or Hammond in the next month to keep them active. Nice report and great food pics!
Just now catching up on your report. Looked like a great time! and that dinner looked amazing, although I will admit, a few things I might be hesitant to eat. LOL Safe travels home!
I haven't been to Joliet since November, and actually have not heard from my host there. I think she forgot about me. LOL Definitley need to find time to get back up there, although I think I'm stopping at Horseshoe S. IN, on my way to Nashville in 2 weeks.
Yeah, done with HH and HJ for sure. Rivers has become ultra trashy on the weekends and I don't have time to go during weekdays anymore. Grand Vic - ick. I have a weekend trip to Detroit in March. ... thinking of a visit to Caesars Windsor. Not going to stay there, though.. the border crossing is a major pain! Going to finish this trip with ~9900 reward credits.
Yeah I felt like sardine in there when we visited in July. Won over $400 and still have no real urge to go back! Lol
You know what's odd? I have a pretty good track record at airport slots when I'm heading home. Just converted 60 bucks into 220 on lightning link. $1 bets Go figure!
I really enjoyed CW the two times I've been, and border crosing was fairly quick and painless. I'm guessing it depends on what day and time you cross.
