How do you get a good casino host? & what is your own experience working with them?
Generally by gambling a certain amount, a host will be assigned to you. The amount will vary depending on the property, the more upscale places will require more coin-in / higher avg bet to get on a host's radar.
I don't use my host for much, as I'm not a huge player and don't require any special treatment. Mainly just to book reservations, since they will make sure I'm getting the best available offer, and to review my play for back end comps after my trip, so I don't need to spend time going to see the host on duty before I leave.
Bigger players (betting thousands per hand) often use a host, or hosts, for every last detail....last minute dinner reservations, tickets to sold out events, etc.
Just remember that "as a rule hosts can't get you things that you aren't entitled to, but can make it easier to get you things that you are entitled to".
This is just my own personal view, and there are plenty of people who disagree with this.
I bring my host a small gift every time I visit. If I win or they do something especially nice for me, I will add a gift card. I believe that it really keeps me in "good", but my host wasn't able to get me in to the Caesars NYE event in 2016, and explained to me that my play level just wasn't "high enough". I did get invited to all of the other CET events though.
Back when I was playing at the D, my host often booked me into upgraded rooms/suites when they were available.
Confucius says... you do not find a good casino host... a good casino host finds you.
