    We were supposed to do a trip to GC before so we are aware of booking in advance. However wr may look past El Tovar since we will have a car.

    Sorry for the almost double post. That what happens when yow use a smartphone

    All equal, getting Accomm A on Dates B in the GC is problematic, it's just part/parcel of very limited supply and huge demand. (Try booking a cabin at Phantom Ranch if you think a Rim-hugging hotel room is tough to come by.) But of course people cancel, there are other options w/i the park -- albeit still typically booked far in advance -- and of course there is Flag and Williams which by western standards aren't exactly far away (though it's not like being in the park).

    Something will turn up somewhere and it will be awesome. The key thing is you are making an effort to see one of America's true treasures as more than a momentary blur in a vehicular window.
