    My Trip Report

    Day 5

We slept till about 8:00am again this morning. Our flight out wasn't until 11:55 pm so this would be a full last day for us. We'd visited with our host the night before and I bitched about the room and made her feel real guilty because I gave her the nice bottle of ice wine that we'd brought for her even though I told her she hadn't done anything for us. I can definitely be a b**ch when I'm feeling lousy. Hubby thought I was a little much, but it felt good to complain. After all they'd invited me. She didn't need to know that I'd have gone even without an invitation. [IMG] Any ways all our food was covered including a coffee shop breakfast and dinner on the our last day. That meant that we had only paid for 2 meals this trip, the Steak House at Circus Circus and the Gold coast buffet. Not bad.

We headed south on the strip to Paris and Aladdin. For the first time we walked through the Desert Passage shops. It was very pretty, but just the same old stores. I always find these malls have so many high end shops that I can't afford anyways that I very seldom buy anything. In fact we had bought t-shirts for our son's at the Gold Coast (1/2 price) and chocolates for the ladies that work for us at TI (Ethel M's) so the only thing we bought in the Forum shops was the Barbie doll and a CD by Pete Jolly at Virgin Records. If any of you are jazz fans, Pete Jolly is great.

We were stopped for a survey when we were entering the Aladdin casino from the mall. Guess what it was about..... the mall. They asked questions about what we thought of the store selection and the layout etc. Maybe they are going to try to do something to revamp it, because it certainly is dead in there. They gave me a box of 2 Godiva chocolates for doing the survey and I was in chocolate heaven.

Well it was only about noon and I was already down half the days budget and was grumbling to hubby about hitting the bank machine if we didn't hit something soon. He got nervous about this and immediately hit for 900 quarters and promptly gave me the money. Perhaps I should have tried this earlier.

We hit 50.00 on a .50 wheel of fortune and cashed it out quickly too. We left and crossed the road and visited the HI Boardwalk. Don't know why, just decided to look around. We put 20.00 in a millionaire 7's machine and hit a bonus for 100.00 cashed it out quickly and moved on to NY NY. Hubby watched a few horse races and I played nickels on a 20.00 for a while. Walked around a bit and hubby ran into a friend of his, Doug Reeds, whose brother Dave used to play for the Colorado Rockies. I know it's not a celebrity encounter, but it's the best we could do.

Decided to try 20.00 in one of those 100 or nothing machines, where you play 1 coin (1.00) at a time and get either 100.00 or nothing. The lady at the next machine promptly told me she had just hit the 100.00 twice on that machine and showed me her two buckets of coins. I said "Oh well" and kept playing. With 2 coins left, I hit the 100.00 and quickly cashed out and left NY NY with a profit.

We were too tired to go any further and too tired to walk back so we hopped a cab back to TI. We had gotten a late check out (7.00pm) probably in an effort to make up for the lack of a suite so we weren't really in a hurry but just decided to collect our cashback and play the rest of our time there. We had been on a double cashback promotion so we had 2200 points and got back 210.00. This gave us enough to lay freely for the rest of the evening before we had to go to the airport.

And play we did. We stopped at around 5:30 to have dinner at the Terrace Cafe and it was quite good. Then we went up to our room to pack up and leave out cases with the bell desk as we decided to leave for the airport at 9:00pm. I hit my favourite Frank Sinatra slot again for 200.00 and then played a strange slot called whale song. I hit mixed bars and a whale song and discovered that the whale song paid 12 times. Another 120.00 and I was now starting to have fun.

I was determined to find a nickel machine to pay me as I had not had a single nickel hand pay this trip. I saw a likely looking Leopard Spots and plunked in my 20.00. Hubby sat beside me at a Texas Tea and plunked in his 20. I hit the button twice and hit for 582 coins which is when Hubby realized that they were quarter machines and not nickels. I couldn't belive that had just played 15 quarters a spin. Thank goodness he noticed and I cashed those babies out quickly. while hubby went to the cashier to cash in the quarters and drunk tried to pick me up. He must have also been blind because there I sat, sick, exhausted, red nosed and coughing. Maybe he wanted my money! :lol

    Leaving

Well it was time to leave and for the first time, I was ready to go home. I needed my own bed, but I wasn't looking forward to the flight as my sinuses were giving me great grief and the coughing was becoming much more frequent. Collected the bags and said goodbye for another year. Quick ride to the airport and no lines for check in or security at Mccaran. I got wanded and patted down but they didn't want my shoes. There were way more security people than passengers so almost everyone got checked.

Settled in for the long wait and coughed our brains out for a couple of hours. I decided to throw a 20 in a RW&B quarter slot and hit 2 blue 7's and a double. Cashed out 211.00 at the airport, couldn't believe it. All told we took home 1400.00 which was good considering I had been contemplating the bank machine in the morning. We lost about 65% of our gambling budget, but we always go expecting to lose 100% percent so we were very happy.

Take off was a little wild as the Vegas winds had whipped up and the plane was kind of bobbing from side to side as we were taking off, but the flight was smooth and on time. The descent was rough due to my sinus problems and I was in agony for the last 15 minutes but once we were on the ground I was back to normal.

I don't know when our next trip will be but I always know there will be a next one somehow, some way, because there is no place like Vegas.

So sorry you got sick! I hate being sick in Vegas. I keep thinking about all the things I want to do but feel too bad to do. :( Glad you didn't let it slow you down. I'm sick today so I certainly felt your pain. [IMG]

Sounds like you had some great luck late in the trip! That certainly helps. [IMG]

    Thanks for sharing.

Being sick in Vegas sucks.. A friend of mine was really sick this weekend, he mainly stayed in bed the whole time. What a waste of a great city!

    Great report!

Veegee! You are Hard Core! Outstanding! It sounds like if you hadn't been sick, you would have had a really great trip!

The Rat Pack show sounds cool....very old school Vegas...I think I'm going to check it out next time. Reminds me of someone else here (Vegas Jer?) who always listens to Elvis on the roady in...definitely old school.

Here's a question for you.....as much as you spread your gambling money around, how did you get hooked up with a Host and a free room? I've been curious about this host thing for a while.... I assume since I don't play high enough stakes to even Get a table rating card at the Mirage that I probably won't be getting any rooms from a host, but I'd still like to know what the deal is.

One last thing....I think being sick in Vegas, especially on your birthday, should get you a do over. :D Book another trip this summer!!

    Terry:

The host at TI actually came and found us the first time we stayed there. I think it's because even though we spread our money around, we usually do about 4 hours a day where we stay. We play all denominations of slots and have a bad habit of playing back our winnings. I'm afraid that we both really just like to play. It's a lot easier to get noticed playing slots than tables.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
