I am currently double booked at these two properties for a couple nights next month. Vdara is running $210 with fountain view while Platinum is running $145 including resort fees but before taxes. Worth the difference?

This is another question that centers around exactly what you are looking for out of a property. If sheer room size is important Platinum. If location Vdara. If you don't mind a little waĺk platinum. If you want a newer property Vdara. You could pretty much go on all day because the two properties are nothing like each other, but in the end it's really how do you feel about them?

Yep. Either place could easily be the best choice, but hard to say without knowing a bit more. Of course, most do not even know where Platinum is since it is off strip.

Any reason these are the only two you are looking at?

This is a wedding trip. In town April 16th-26th. Staying at Bally's the first 4 days and GN the last 4. We are encouraging guests to stay between Spring Mountain and Harmon.

Why not have your first stay at Ballys and GN unless you are trying to get them into a ginourmous room?

Vdara wins on this one imho because its on strip. Ive never understood going to vegas and not staying on the strip. I can stay at any hotel anywhere in america and have the same experience as off strip hotels. The entire allure of vegas is being in the action on the strip. Again only my opinion.

The location of Vdara alone beats the Plat. The Plat is a cheap timeshare hotel.

Just stayed at Vdara for the last two days of my trip. Very nice hotel and reasonably priced. My room opened into a small kitchen / dining area for two. Then a sitting area with a couch and a TV mounted on a half wall that separated that area from the sleeping area. Bathroom was good sized and well-appointed. I'd rate it below Aria, Wynn, Cosmo and MO, but above most of the CET properties. I'd definitely stay there again.

Another vote for Vdara. Really enjoyed the stay there and it was conveniently located.

I presume you mean have guests stay at those hotels? The GN stay is during NAB convention, rates are rediculous across the spectrum. Unfortunately most guests wont be arriving til Wednesday. They aren't really Vegas people. I sent color coded map with the invitations with hotel tiers noted. We arent talking many folks.

Vdara is the best bet. You don't want these people to feel inconvenienced. The platinum isn't a bad hotel, but it is an inconvenient hotel. That's why the price is lower even though the accommodations are fairly nice.

Vdara is in the middle of it all. They will want convenience. Saving a few dollars isn't really worth it in light of what all that extra walking will take away from anyone's trip. Plus its getting warmer and the desert sun has a way of draining your energy very quickly if you aren't accustomed to being in it.

Just do them a favor and steer them towards the Vdara.

If the actual wedding is at Bally's then the best place for most guests would be Bally's. Location wise, one could make a good argument for the Platinum as it should be a closer walk to Bally's than Vdara but presume that the guests will want to take in the sites. Vdara would be easier for sightseeing.

This. Bally's Jubalee rooms are nice and would be on site. I don't see any drawbacks to that option.
