So I was talking to my wife...and the next time we go gamble, we're going to head up to Reno (it'll be a few months), and try something funny...
We're both going to take $500 and play UTH & Craps...(She UTH and me craps)
She'll bet $5 ante/blind, no trips, perfect (or as close as you can get) strategy; at a full table (6 players), so roughly $20 average action.

I'll bet $5 pass with 345x odds, so roughly $25 average action, at a full table (12 people I would imagine)

    We're going to see
A.) Who gets to $0 or $1000 first
B.) Who LASTS longer (if we both go bust; or 4 hours max time limit)
C.) Who gets more comps (since we're both basically betting the same amount)

    Any speculators?

She will have way more betting rounds than you, so I imagine she will win or bust faster with same bankroll, and earn more comps.

I can see her making $300-$500 easily if she wins her 4x bets often enough, but if she starts getting hammered on the 4x bets, she can burn through her $500 within her first hour easy.

If my birthday was Jan. 2, I would make that resolution every year! But October?! Should we start a forum wager on this?

As a solid UTH fan, I have to go with your wife...wait...that came out wrong....
I have to SIDE with your wife.

Here's the deal...her variance is much higher, but her potential wins are as well.
She hits quads or even a handful of straights, flushes & boats? She could easily get to a grand before you do.

Oh wait...you said no 'trips' bets.
That means no field, hardways, C/E or prop bets for you as well, correct?

At $25 per win & only about $15 per loss (most of them, anyway), her potential is still greater.
Any rolled 7 after your point kills you... and it is always more likely than your point.

In UTH, the players hand is just as likely to win as the dealer's.
The player is permitted to raise on good hands (pre-flop & pre-turn/river). The dealer cannot do the same.

The house edge is on the trips bet, the ante-push on non-qualifiers and on the blind bet only paying with straight+.

With the exception of the trips bet, (which she won't be playing!), the others are non-winners - not money losers.

PS - dittos on the $100 that says you won't make it to October. :wink2:

How is Kris going to keep you from gambling on the Valentines trip?

And it is not "gambling"... it will be a "race".

Shall I have Hunter change my reservation to a 2 bedroom on the 23rd?

In a perfect Math world, and you not making additional Come bets, your $500 will last longer. Speed and a higher House Advantage go against the UTH player. Because we don't live in a perfect Math world, anything is possible and the opportunity for higher payouts are available to the UTH player.

I still think it will be a fun experiment.

    LOL, not bad odds...
The toughest part is going on Valentine's day to Lake Tahoe, and NOT touching a machine or table (have to pickup $400 freeplay + $300 in resort credit), but I'm going to hold to my guns.
Then again, for 4th of July in Lake Tahoe, to watch the fireworks, hahaha.

$500 buy in at a $5 UTH table, without Trips bet, she will most definitely get to 4 hours without busting and I bet have your comps beat too.
