DOWN. 3 Vegas trips multiple casino visits in other states just couldn't build on any small wins. 2016 and 2017 have been rough but I'm ready to change that trend in '18

Blackjack, Heather... learn basic strategy, find yourself a 3:2 table with low limits & decent rules...start out with modest bets, only increasing them when you've built up your bankroll with enough wins to justify it. (Each session buy-in should be 20x your bet amount... so, let's say you start out at $10/hand... for example, in order to justify going to $25/hand, your bankroll for that session should be up from $200 to $500.)
Blackjack is a low-variance game, and if you're selective with the tables you play, it has a house edge of about half of 1%.
Booking winning trips playing blackjack is not that tough nor is it unusual.
Obviously, there are no guarantees, but the game has certainly been very kind to me over the last 20 years or so...sure, I still have losing sessions, as does every blackjack player...but I have more winning ones than losers.
    ;)

I was just looking at my win loss statements, and for the 5-6 trips between the Orleans, Gold Coast, and Freemont, up $124-ish. Im sure thats only due to the Last Trip.

I had two trips in 2017 one in March and the other just got back. Came back with about a $1000 richer in the bankroll in March and now after I just got back my bankroll is $1200 lighter.

Both times had a hell of a lotta fun.

I tried playing BJ at PH last trip. I was on a $25 minimum table. I need to learn strategy but people kept throwing chips on my cards for me to double and split the whole time. I had no idea but I spent more time arguing with them to not keep betting on my cards than I did paying attention to what I was doing. I was so uncomfortable about it as I was trying to keep track of who put money and how much I should give them back.... They weren’t wanting it back but people generally don’t just throw you money without expecting something in return. Lol It ruined the experience for me. I do like baccarat though and want to try it as well.

Even. Didn't go in 2017. :( Did make some money off of CET in Baltimore though in 2017.

Headed out in 2 weeks though should get to make up for lost time in 2018!

My best, low limit blackjack experiences have been early morning/afternoon games when the minimums are low. Then it's just a matter of finding a good dealer who is going to take the time to teach you as you go. I'm not sure I've ever gambled at PH when it's been "quiet" enough to learn strategy. Even at like 4 am on a Sunday/Monday I feel like there's at least 3-4 people (mostly drunk) at my table.

    Vegas up.
    Biloxi up.
    Local down.
    all together down.

New years resolution is to AVOID my locals!!! 3 out of 5 Vegas trips this year ended up...2 of which were 2x or more of bankroll size. Need more of that in 2018!!

Were they friends throwing bets on your cards? Pretty nervy for anyone but if just random strangers at the table, I'm shocked it was allowed.

I seldom play blackjack anymore but I know I would have been creeped out if people (as in random casino guests) started doing it to me. I get annoyed when other players say things like "aw c'mon, don't take his bust card" and such. :(

That's why I stopped playing table games - because of other people and their unwanted advice.

Heather (or should I call you 'Blue' in this instance? :poke:) - I wonder why that never happens to me? ;)

dmr & Eleven: Those are people who do not understand how the game works. One easy way to avoid their unwanted commentary is to play a two-deck pitch game. Your cards are dealt face down.
Nothing you do or don't do has any "better" or "worse" impact on the game or other players. "Take his bust card" ? You could just as easily take the card that gives him 20 or 21.
What these people are doing is most-likely throwing basic-strategy at you...if "the book" says you should stay, or that you should stand/double/split/whatever, some superstitious people think that if you don't, it "screws up the outcome"... it's total nonsense - I wouldn't give them another thought...
It is, however, to your advantage to learn basic strategy & to follow it when playing - but be warned - even when you do, there will always be some half-wit who thinks you're playing wrong from time to time... like hitting a 12 versus a dealer 2, or doubling A-8 versus a dealer 6.

Agreed and @dmr, I hate being “blamed” for how I choose to play by the person on my left. I have no idea what card I’m getting or what they are going to get. I stood on a 14 and they started bitching I should I have hit. Next card was a king, so I would have busted and they got a better hand! The dealer ended up busting, so it was the right call. I know very basic strategy, but it’s my money and I play by my gut feeling sometimes too though.
