    Thanks.

I rarely bet college football because I feel like I don't know it well enough. Still, I was already thinking about making some very small over/under win total bets this year (like maybe thirty bucks a team) just to have something to root for on Saturdays. I watch enough SEC football where at least making those bets wouldn't be a total shot in the dark. I just don't watch enough college generally to know the relative strength of each team. The only person I can name on Penn State is their coach and that's only because I live one block away from the last stadium he coached in, lol

Interesting thread re all the trips. When I first saw your 'handle', I assumed "United Kingdom" .. lol. Btw, I caddied for two years for Cody Martin, who played golf for UK (graduated about 5 years ago). He even had "UK" tees ...

I am still recovering a bit from too much sun this weekend, but in my mind, I am ready to start the first Vegas leg of this trip now! And my partner is talking non-stop about her shark dive, so I know she is ready too! Fortunately, I have an unexpected work meeting this afternoon to keep me busy. But after today, my week is pretty slow until we leave. I think I will read some of my old reports to get ready!

Alright, its time to gear this report back up! My southwest boarding pass for tomorrow is downloaded, I am getting ready to watch my team play some meaningless exhibition game from a ballroom at a bahamas casino (yes, I have a problem), and then its time to pack for our departure tomorrow. The weather report is looking good and I might not burn to an absolute crisp at Moorea beach club on Saturday. The plan tomorrow is check out a refurbed suite at Mandalay, eat somewhere easy (probably Burger Bar) and hit the tables for a while. I am not sure yet what I feel like playing. I am debating between bac, roulette, and craps. It will probably end up being bac because that is the easiest way/best chance to make some money fast. if the early gambling goes well, i will likely start low rolling after that.

lol, the NFL betting portion of the trip comes next week. So follow along. I will post all my futures bets after I make them.

FWIW, since our Pats discussion last week, I did upgrade them slightly in my initial power ratings. Still, playing in the weakest division in football is their greatest advantage. I think they cruise to another division title, but lots of dangers ahead in the playoffs

Never fear The GOAT is there and their defense will be a lot better, as will there offense. First 2 games shall tell a lot
vs. Texans and Jaguars ,I think Decker is going to have a stellar season with Brady

So day one of the Vegas adventure has been excellent. Here's the recap, to be followed by a pic dump in the next post:

Left for the airport this afternoon and got a bit worried when we hit an unexpected traffic jam. An accident had closed two lanes on the interstate. Fortunately, I switched on the waze app, found a shortcut, and made it to the airport in plenty of time.

light was uneventful. I watched a few episodes of OITNB and tried to rest, but that wasn't happening. Too pumped thinking about Vegas! A weird scene, though, at the airport. As we looked for our driver to MB, we witnessed a physical confrontation between a guy and a tall kid who appeared to be his developmentally disabled son. A police officer rushed over to break it up and the kid sat down on the ground. Nobody who was there was comfortable, so we rushed out of the baggage claim area as soon as we found our driver.

I haven't stayed at MB for a few years. I was glad to see a decent crowd since the place has definitely been less busy since last autumn. Did a quick checkin in the VIP room and then headed upstairs. We are on the 62nd floor, just outside the VIP lounge, so that will be nice in the morning. I haven't been here since they refurbed the rooms a little while back and I like the changes. The color scheme is less beige and now more earth tones and better furniture. Will post some pics of the suites and our view next.

We unpacked and then headed downstairs in the high limit room elevator. I noticed they have a craps table set up in one of the back rooms of the HL. Never seen that at MB before. It wasn't staffed, but it seems like they have it ready to go if a big player requests it. The HL had its standard tables operating: 3 BJ, 2 bac, and 1 roulette. We sat down at the empty bac and took out a marker.

The gambling went well! Started kind of poorly, but the shoe wasn't too choppy and there were enough streaks of four or five in row to a side that I was able to catch up and get ahead. My bets ranged form $100 to $5k, but most of them were $500. Nothing too memorable except one poor guy who jumped ion with me near the end of the shoe. It was on a player streak and he kept betting bank. After losing four in a row, doubling his bet each time, he got up and left. Next hand, of course, was bank! At the end of the shoe, we colored up and decided to walk through the casino.

Casino was fairly busy. We walked back to the sportsbook. I wanted to go ahead and pick up some mlife futures sheets to continue my research over the next week. But I couldn't find them! The MB book is undergoing a pretty major refurb. Only one electronic board is operating and none of the screens were turned on. They had three smaller mobile screens sitting around the bar area adjoining the book. Hope they get this work done before football season starts, because the place rightly dead now.

After that disappointment, we walked over t the Luxor book so I could get the mlife sheets. Then we walked to Burger Bar and chowed down. Food was typically good. Afterward my partner walked across the hall to Lush to but some products to use in the tub this weekend. We decided to head back to the room, but we couldn't resist the roulette table in the HL room. We played small and it worked out great. Just bet the outside, but hit a streak of seven blacks in a row.

Now we are back in the room and relaxing before a busy day tomorrow. The plan is Moorea Beach Club, diving with sharks, and dinner at Red Square. More later!

Nice run! Bummer about the sportsbook, but always other places to watch sports. And last time I visited MB sportsbook a couple of years ago, I thought it could use a refresh.

I have always like it, but it did need a refresh. And this trip, I am not planning to watch or bet anything. Next week I am back at CP and can take full advantage of the book there

Very good. I always forget to take pics of the food, probably because I was starving when it arrived and I tore into it. I will try and take pics of the meal tonight. I love the BB shakes, but glad I did not order one. The burger and fries always fill me up enough anyway. And our host sent a gift basket up to our room, so we had a bunch of treats and champagne waiting on us anyway

Hazy, early morningin vegas. If you zoom really far in, you can see a hot air balloon near the mountains. Otherwise, its a better pic of the sttadium construction

Here are a couple more from this morning

Hitting the gym very briefly and then not sure what we will do before Moorea opens.

It did just dawn on me why the sky is so hazy and that is depressing. Hope the air quality is decent at the pool today

I agree 100%. I have always liked it, too, but it has fallen way behind the other leaders in terms of comfort, amenities, screen quality, etc. Just look at what they have at Aria, Mirage, CP, Lagasse's Stadium, etc. Even the Cromwell put in a nice little sports book! The MB space is huge and the right renovation could make it great.

I stayed at MB in May and there was no work going on in the sports book so this is new. I would assume they will finish it by football season.
